    凯利 穆利斯 （Kary Mullis），聚合酶链式反应（polymerase chain reaction，PCR）技术的发明人（1983年），1993年诺贝尔化学奖获得者，加州大学伯克利分校生物化学博士。PCR技术用到的核心思想，其实在1971年就被Khorana等人提出过，用于体外克隆DNA。1988年Saiki等人将耐热的DNA聚合酶（Taq酶）引入了PCR技术。Taq酶于1969年被台湾裔科学家钱嘉韵等人在美国黄石国家公园大棱镜湖（热泉）中发现并分离，但可惜的是当时没有引起足够的关注，直到PCR被发明之后，钱嘉韵的这一发现，才真的展现出其重要意义。
