SON ch 33 & 34
In this double feature episode covering two chapters of Shadow of Night, we look at the dangerous creatures in and around Diana Bishop & Matthew Clairmont's lives. First, we are confronted with the anomaly that has gotten away from the de Clermonts, and landed into the hands of Peter Knox (and Gerbert!); poor Pavel! Second, we are launched back to Tudor England, to manage the temper-ridden monarch, and meet Matthew's legendary sister, Louisa de Clermont. She's using our resident love-sick, unstable, drugged-out, tale-telling, finger-pointing daemon as her guide. Strap in!

Jeff Greenstein: "When Marta & David & Jeff & I did 'Dream On', we used to spend a lot of time thinking about titles, because they were on-screen at the top of each episode. On "Friends", we decided that was a waste of time. We figured, why not name each episode after the thing that people will ostensibly be talking about around the water-cooler the next day?"Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
SON ch 32
After getting out of that disastrous dinner with Rudolf, Diana and Matthew reflect on what they saw/thought/smelled from Ashmole 782. Gallowglass is doing his best to get them to break it down for to him as if he were a medieval vampire. They determine that they have break into the castle, and steal the book, and then beat feet out of Prague. But how? It seems Jack has and is the key to bust in, get the book, and get the f*ck out of there! A short, but great chapter! Enjoy!

SON ch 31
The day in/day out of Emperor Rudolf's Prague is wearing on us, however we couldn't have asked for a more satisfactory "goodbye" than this chapter! There's drama (school play), there's romance (in Rudolf's mind!), and there's action (the great escape!). Oh and of course, we finally get our sights on the missing book, Ashmole 782. Enjoy!

Gifts, Noblety™, hunting (in 1591, and in present-day), suspicion, submission, reverence, and BENJAMIN?! Yeah, this was a trip. Buckle up, because we may lose a hubcap, or four! We watch Matthew attempt to handle the current females in his life; with Šárka he has some success, not so much with Corra, and the jury has been out with Diana. We offer sage advice to any vampire out there with a witch wife: If she has a firedrake, don't piss her off. Just sayin'.

SON ch 29
After some gentle persuasion (ha!), Edward Kelley points Diana and Matthew to Rabbi Loew in order to find the lost book (presently known as Ashmole 782). The Rabbi can offer no assistance, however he can escort Diana to the Jewish town to meet Abraham, maker of spells, and mother of the Golem. Diana exchanges methods with Abraham, gains some insight, allows her familiar to have a play date, and a inadvertently has a chance encounter with a future er..."problem"? Matthew, getting drowned by the chaos that their lives have become, has had enough! Newlywed drama! We talked the heck out of this one! Enjoy!

SON ch 28
DEFENESTRATION IS ALL THE RAGE IN PRAGUE! Despite repeated attempts to have a proper sit-down with Edward Kelley, Diana is not having a lot of luck; what she is managing to do is to get more and more tangled up in Emperor Rudolf's world and imagination. Finally, through a tangled network of connections via the "Real Housewives of Prague," Diana and Matthew meet the man of the hour. Matthew decides a good defenestration -- er -- employment of persuasion, will get the answers they seek. Well, it worked! Sort of ... enjoy!

SON ch 26 & 27
It's a double feature! Yes, we are covering chapters 26 and 27 of Shadow of Night in one shot (it explains the length of the episode). In chapter 26, we meet a new (to us) de Clermont; Verin ... and her husband Ernst. We reunite with present-day Gallowglass, and we see how Philippe continues to look over the family from the grave. We then zip back in time to 1591 in chapter 27 to catch up with Matthew and Diana in Prague. They are establishing their household, settling the kids in, and plotting their course to finally get their hands on Ashmole 782. First stop, Emperor Rudolf's place. On first read, we go in not knowing what to expect, but we come out feeling a bit like Diana -- ugh! Please excuse us. We need to shower now.
