February 10, 2021Day 41 - Exodus 33-35
In the aftermath of the golden calf incident, it looks like God may be ready to let his people go on ahead without him. But Moses intercedes and tells God that he would rather be with Him in the desert than alone in the land flowing with milk and honey. We see God's sovereign mercy at work and are reminded that our salvation is not about what we do, but all about what God has done.

February 08, 2021Day 39 - Exodus 28-29
God moves from the tent to the runway as he designs the garments for Aaron and his sons who will be the priests. Aaron will be the representative of the people before God and the embodiment of the tabernacle among the people. Purification before this Holy God is important because he wants to dwell with his people and he wants them to know him. We have a better mediator in Jesus who came to be Immanuel, God with us, and paid the price so we could know God.

Moses receives the instructions for the building of the Tabernacle and all of its accouterments. Jesus is our great High Priest, but he does not just enter the Tabernacle to make a sacrifice. He is the tabernacle and the sacrifice.

This reading always makes me want to watch The Ten Commandments. Seeing the crossing of the Red Sea would have truly been a sight to behold. It was so amazing that it prompted songwriting on Moses' part.
