January 28, 2021 Day 28 - Genesis 46-47
Why is it special for God to be with us if He is omnipresent? Why did Egyptians hate shepherds so much? There is pretty good evidence to suggest that the Pharoah during the time of Joseph was Senusret III. Look him up. Likely because of Joseph's administration the kingdom grew rapidly and we see "fortifications" made in the cities. Could those be Joseph's granaries? These are fun topics for discussion, but it can be easy to get so focused on Egypt that we forget all about the God who brought them there and will bring them home when it is time.

Joseph continues his trick on his brothers until he can't stand it anymore. The brothers and Israel are shocked to find out the Joseph is still alive. I bet there will be some questions about how they were so wrong about what happened to Joseph 22 years before. But Joseph acknowledges that it was all part of God's plan, and the family is soon going to be reunited.

Almost all of Jacob's children are born to him by his four wives (not good advice) and it is time for him to go back to his father so he can claim the land that God had promised him. But God has prospered Laban through Jacob and he doesn't want to let him go. With these two involved, trickery ensues and eventually, Jacob is free to leave with his wives, children, and flocks, and a couple of household gods thrown in for good measure.
