Late last night, my family was winding down and resisting the knowledge that it was time to separate to our various homes for the welcome ritual of sleep. Someone brought up the subject of gross neglect in various areas. And the questions arose: “How did it get that bad? 

Some situations are so disproportionately out of control that one has to wonder, was there not a moment along the way when a thought may have occurred, “I need to do something about this!”

Of course, there are extenuating circumstances like depression, mental illness, a feeling of helplessness and limiting beliefs that contribute. I suggest we consider that making a choice not to do anything when we know we should, is still a choice.

Hoʻoponopono is an ancient Polynesian practice that infuses into our life experience: Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love. Susan, on our call told of an abusive marriage that was healed through Ho’oponopono. We always have choice. We don’t know what the outcome will be, but we always have choice.

We can choose fear, or we can choose to trust God, remaining open to His guidance. We can keep saying life is hard, or we can say life is easy. And either way, we are right!

On of the biggest ways we give up our choice is by trying to make decisions based on what others might think. I have the choice to be free to act according to my own purpose and what brings me happiness. Or, I can choose to act based on what I think might make others happy. (Side note: besides being unhappy, we are not being authentic, which other people can smell a mile away, so we will probably still be criticized for not seeming authentic. Better to be judged for being authentic!)

Small choices that feel right to us on a daily basis produces a compound effect. someone mentioned Darren Hardy’s book Compound Effect on the call today.

Most importantly, remember that you do have a choice from the color of your hair and the food you eat. to the daily actions you give yourself permission to complete, that ultimately help you align with your purpose.

• I am living true to my authentic choices
• I am attracting the perfect people who are ready for me
• I choose only those action steps that take me where I want to go
• I am in integrity with God and my highest self
• My choices and what I want are in alignment

It takes time to make the physical changes in our lives that our minds and hearts can embrace in a moment. I am grateful for the time to mess up and try again. I see it so clearly in my vision, but it does take time for that vision to fully match up with our physical reality.

Just as we may not be a musical genius yet, we can master one piece of music. Yet, even that takes time! If we hang in there, we can look back and see how far we have come. You’ve probably heard the saying: “it’s like watching grass grow”, meaning change is almost imperceptible. But check back in a week, and we can see evidence of growth. Ultimately, reaching our full growth potential.

The time that we take to become a master in our craft, can shorten the time it takes for others to learn. I am sure all of us have read a book or watched a youtube video instructing us how to do something. Someone gave hours and even years to gain the skill we can learn in a 10 minute youtube video!

What a beautiful thing time is. To finally arrive at the moment when we are willing to forgive another or even better, to see the experience differently so that there is no need to forgive. All the time before when we felt hurt or betrayed, is not wasted. That change of heart can be applied to all experiences up to this moment, not just the one person and the one moment. And it can be applied to all experiences yet to come that now don’t have to result in hurt and betrayal. A pivotal moment of understanding heals an eternity of hurt and betrayal, in both directions. None of that time is wasted. The joy and peace is magnified in relation to the time involved.

Today, I Give Myself Permission to Release My Grasp Of Time

• I am fulfilling my purpose here and now
• I have plenty of time
• I utilize every moment with deliberate purpose
• I am infinite
• I am in alignment with time
• I have enough time
• My time is extended to fulfill my purpose
• I receive God’s guidance to shorten the time it takes to move from intention to physical reality

I was grateful today that a couple of our dedicated live Daily Gratitude Call participants stayed on the conference line, even though I wasn’t there. It was sort of a lazy morning for me and I was a couple minutes late getting on the call. Sure enough, there were two participants just sharing their gratitude with each other while they waited for me to join them.

I am also grateful for our brave military personnel who is so dedicated in service to keeping our country free and strong. My Grandpa is one of those veterans of World War II. He is the oldest living veteran in our town. He just turned 98 two days ago. He is on hospice care right now, but is still as alert and wise as ever. An honor guard will be recognizing him this morning at my mom’s home. I feel so blessed to be a grand-daughter of a man who lived a life of dedication, not only to his country, but to himself, his God and his family. He is the epitome of dedication in every area.

Jane, on our call today reminded us that if we can be dedicated in one area, we can transfer that skill to all areas of our lives. We can dedicate a moment of our lives to being present and conscious when we make decisions. We can dedicate our time, money, energy and talents to a cause or even our own vision of creating a better life for ourselves.

Napoleon Hill said “There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to possess it.” I felt on the call today that the key piece among all this is our dedication to doing! We can know what we want and even have a burning desire, but unless we are willing to put the dedicated action behind it, it is only an empty wish.

Thanks to Michael on our call today who shared that we can wander for a lifetime, but once we dedicate ourselves to focus and purpose, we find freedom, and may I add, the wandering then becomes a deliberate journey to a chosen destination.

When I receive new information that feels to me like divine tutoring or an inspired shortcut to my goals, I can choose to question it, or I can choose to believe, trust and accept it completely. Anything less than total acceptance, is doubt.

I love what Mary said on the call (paraphrased): “Accept what is next and get on with it! My day starts to fill in perfectly around it. I am engaging and showing up in life and I see more and more how the rest of life is moved with that one tiny step.”

Other ways we can be in total acceptance…

Acceptance of me, my nature, my mistakes. As I can be in total acceptance of myself, I see others differently and can accept them totally as well.

Acceptance of my responsibility only and having compassion for others in their struggles, believing they are doing their best rather than trying to fix them.

Acceptance of God’s Will, letting go of our own will and the struggle that comes with forcing our will in a situation.

Today, I Give Myself Permission to Embrace Total Acceptance

• I am open
• I am enough
• God knows what I am ready for
• I am in total acceptance
• I am receiving and incorporating what I know to be right for me
• I accept what is totally authentic to me

I am grateful for group texts. As I think of all the group texts I have been part of, there is a common thread that ties us all together. And that common thread is always based in love and communication.

The most recent group text I have been included in is with my mom and six siblings. My Grandpa, whose 98th birthday is today, is in the hospital. I have been grateful that all of my family have been willing and ready to step up and be with Grandpa, so that in trading off, someone has been with him all day long with few exceptions.

It’s not so much that he wants someone with him, he told me I would NOT miss church on his account, when I visited with him on Sunday. But we We want to be there! He has the most amazing stories of his life that communicate his integrity, and his life of service and obedience.

I know that everyone doesn’t have this type of connection with family. I am blessed that all my siblings and my mom are within 15 minutes of each other, with the exception of my sister who lives an hour away. So we are close in proximity. And we have always been close energetically too.

Mary, on our call mentioned that this is not her experience with her family ties. However, rather than choosing to separate herself, she has chosen to do the opposite of what she felt growing up. She has chosen to reach out in love without condition of how they may receive her. In this way, she does have love of family. She is the one producing the love!

Tyrie suggested that if we master our emotions and our actions, we can act independently of others who might choose something other than love. Coleen added that by seeing the gifts and greatness in others, seeing them through Christ’s eyes, many times people are more open to feel and give love. We have the power to produce love, even if it is only one-sided for a time.

‘Family” can mean many things. People bonded together in a common purpose. The Daily Gratitude Call is in a sense, a family. I talk to my gratitude family more than I talk to my blood related family!

And we are all part of the great human family with our Heavenly Father and Mother at the head. DNA lines go all the way back to Adam. So, in effect, we are all family!

Today, I Give Myself Permission to Feel and Offer Love

• I love without condition
• I choose to love
• I choose connection
• I choose the rich blessings of family togetherness
• I notice, recognize and acknowledge others in love
• I experience love in my heart
• I am a loved member of the great human family
• I see the value that others give and express my gratitude to them
• I see the value I give and I express gratitude to my Heavenly Father for my gifts
