If discouragement, doubt, or fear have been hitting you like flaming arrows lately, Ephesians 6:16 has an answer: take up the shield of faith.
In today's Daily Hope, Pastor John S. Dickerson continues teaching through Ephesians 6, walking through the last pieces of the armor of God: the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Paul says the shield of faith is what extinguishes every flaming arrow the enemy throws at you. Faith isn't pretending everything is fine, it's choosing to believe that God is going to win, that He's going to carry you through, that Jesus wins in the end.
Then Paul does something surprising. Writing from a literal prison cell, he doesn't ask people to pray for his release or for more comfortable conditions. He asks them to pray that right where God has placed him, he would boldly make the gospel known, kingdom prayer instead of comfort prayer.
Pastor John S. Dickerson unpacks what it looks like to put on this armor and pray this way today, wherever God has placed you.
What's one flaming arrow, doubt, fear, or discouragement, you need the shield of faith for today?
