Marie T. Russell's Daily Inspiration
The focus for today is: I have the courage to look into my soul and follow my conscience.
When we think of courage, we tend to think of someone performing heroic acts, such as pulling someone from a burning building, or some other feat of bravery. However, there are many other forms of courage, such as: Standing up to a bully, or perhaps choosing not to respond to an insult with anger. Choosing to stand up for our beliefs, even when they are unpopular and could be misunderstood. Standing up to the boss, or other voice of authority, even at the risk of losing our job, our popularity, or our standing in the community.
All of these are acts of courage. Anytime we go against the grain of the status quo, that takes courage. Anytime we speak up, for ourselves or for someone else, that takes courage. Anytime we resist the pull of any type of addiction, that takes courage.
Courage is not only of the medal-receiving variety. Every time we look into our soul and follow our conscience, that's an act of courage.
