Annie Wegner LeFort - Chef, Master Preserver, and Yoga Teacher
Welcome to another episode of Dairy-Free State! This week's guest is Annie Wegner LeFort. Annie was a pastry chef around the same time she realized she needed to go gluten-free. What a torturous thing to be surrounded by temptation as you're changing your diet!
If you're looking for food preparation, preserving, and gluten-free cooking tips, go to Annie! We talk about the classes she offers, as well as the restaurants and businesses around Milwaukee that do a great job catering to special diets. Some of the businesses and resources mentioned in the podcast include:
* The Gluten-Free Trading Company (no longer open, but wanted to give them a shout anyway)
* MOR Bakery & Cafe [http://www.morfoodsmke.com/]
* Mindful Palate, which is now Eat Move MKE [https://eatmovemke.com/] - this is where you can find out about Annie's cooking classes, yoga classes, and other services.
* Tricklebee Cafe [http://tricklebeecafe.org/]
* Dr. Rose Kumar at the Ommani Center [https://ommanicenter.com/dr-kumar/]
* And finally, my recipe for sourdough starter banana bread [https://www.dairyfreestate.com/recipe-sourdough-starter-waste-banana-bread-dairy-free/]
One note: I misspoke about SIBO in this episode, and I was still learning more about my condition at the time (it's been a few months). While the condition does include bacterial overgrowth, it's not necessarily bad bacteria, just bacteria growing where it shouldn't. I'll be putting out more about SIBO in the months to come in a dedicated blog series.
