As a teenager, you might be wondering if you can get a job that makes you more money than conventional options, something that’s more than dead-end minimum wage work. How do you make good money if you’re 16 or 17?
First of all, relax. You’re young. Anything great takes time to accomplish. In the meantime, here are a couple of things you can do.
Work To Learn
My first piece of advice is work to learn, don’t work to earn. Don’t get a job just to make a quick buck or a few dollars. Pick an industry and a career within that industry and develop your skills and acquire knowledge about that career so you have a long term plan.
Better yet, choose someone that you can learn from and work under that person. As an apprentice or intern, you can develop skillsets from your mentor. Don’t just focus on making money.

We are what are what we repeatedly do. As human beings, we are creatures of habit. You’ll notice that people do the same thing, the same routine, over and over again. Getting rich is no different – it’s also a habit. So if you want to be successful, learn from the three best habits of rich people.
Habit 1: Count Your Money
The first habit you want to have is to count your money like every dollar matters. Don’t just get your paycheck and deposit it. It’s too easy to spend your money without watching the money flow. What are your expenses?
Don’t wait until it’s tax time, when you have to figure out what you owe – before you study your numbers. Even then, don’t just look at what you have to pay and file the return. Look at your numbers regularly.
Become financially literate. Log into your account every single day to see your cash flow. How much cash reserve do you have? How are your investments doing? If you have a business, how is your business doing? What gets measured gets improved, so look at what you need to work on to improve your finances.
