This week, its all about keeping warm and keeping those germs away!

Izelle is all about ingredients that pack a punch, and none pack more of an anti inflammatory, ant-viral, anti-fungal and warming punch than ginger! Your Ouma and Gogo were not wrong about that ginger beer or the hot ginger tea!

With a calming effect on digestion, a soothing effect on sore throats and all of the other benefits, it seems only fitting that tis week Izelle is celebrating this root with an award winning recipe from her cookbook, Mindful Eating!

Nicole Austin is a pharmacist specialising in strategic communications. Founder of a communications agency, Nicole is also a TV presenter, 'Survivor SA' runner-up, and a previous Mrs South Africa.

No stranger to the concept of 'Brave', Nicole has a passion for climbing mountains, and takes people with her on transformational journeys into the wild to help them realise their potential.

Nicole is an ambassador for Rare Diseases SA, and also sits on their executive board. She has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Mont Blanc in the Alps, and 14 local peaks, to raise funds and awareness for children with dread diseases.

Alongside News24 and Adock Ingram, she is judging an incredible initiative that celebrates humans doing the most in their communities! South Africans rallied together to celebrate our medical heroes who have made our safety their priority during this pandemic and beyond.

In the last year, we’ve seen the unwavering bravery and strength displayed by our healthcare workers and pharmacists during the pandemic.

Izelle is an award-winning lifestyle chef who lives and eats mindfully in every single way! After growing up with hip dysplasia and going through many, many surgeries, Izelle took her health into her own hands, and started eating the way her body needed! She then took everything she learned and turned it into both a cookbook and a lifestyle to help other people!

This week, Danny and Izelle are talking about hacking your brain and eating to make yourself happy, but does it work? And what can we do? Well, Izelle has a recipe!

With so much conflicting information out there about training and nutrition, how do we know which one is the right one?

Well, it's really specific to you as a human, your physiology, and the way your body responds to training but, Danny and Izelle have been lifting weights for years and as you can see, have two completely different body types and hold weight differently. However, the one thing that remains true with both of them is that the cleaner the eating, the leaner the muscle.

Danny is currently focussing more on nutrition and less on training, whereas Izelle is focussed holistically on her journey. But, what works? What has worked for them in the past and what could work for you?

With the cold front here, we are reaching for the treats and the comfort food - but how can we comfort eat while honouring our bodies?

Danny and Izelle are talking about cravings, pain, and comfort in this winter. COVID-19 fatigue and isolation are getting us down and now the weather has turned, we need something warming - a hug in a mug!

That hug is coming in the form of Izelle's Rosa tomato soup!

I spoke to her about her rise, her career to date, and the plans for the future, and all I can say is, world, watch out, because Mila is coming for everything!

This year, the band look to keep their foot on the pedal with the release of their much anticipated next single titled, ‘22’ , an upbeat summer anthem already finding its place on charts at home with nostalgia-riddled lyrics which throws back to their early days - living and touring in their adolescence.

‘When writing this song I wanted to channel a feel-good energy of our journey so far as a band and as individuals, which also relates closely enough to the memories we all experienced in our early twenties. A care-free, adventurous and invincible time of life,’ says frontman Tristan Coetzee.

The new single speaks to the trials of growing up and getting tied up in the laborious realities of adulthood, often losing touch with our younger selves. This is rounded up with a call to shed that pressure and go back to the care-free living we know and want.

Normally, these two Mindfulness Warriors meet on a Tuesday to talk about all things health and wellness, but Danny had a rough Tuesday and after a power outage they decided to look at the silver lining instead of being sad about missing a show!

And, Wellness Wednesday was born - for this week! Using the lessons learned yesterday by the duo, they unpack how framing your reactions to obstacles differently can affect the outcome of the situation! You get to choose, always. if it's going to be positive or negative. You always have the power.
