DarkHorse Podcast

In this 246 in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this week’s episode, we discuss how Kamala Harris is presenting herself, and being presented, in the mainstream media, and whether there is any misinformation therein. Then: How the reductionist, scientistic approach to human health is making us less healthy, rather than more. Examples: California requires folic acid be added to tortillas and other masa products (“it’s an equity issue”), and fluoride in municipal water supplies is recognized as a correlate of lower childhood IQs. Also: Doctor Strangelove. Finally: a discussion of technocrats and their science skin suits.

In this 244th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this week’s episode, we discuss excess deaths from 2021 on, and what the insurance industry is recommending that we do (more of the same treatments that got us into this mess!). Related: Francis Collins, the head of the National Institutes of Health during Covid, asks why “facing a common enemy” didn’t bring us together, while celebrating the Covid “vaccines,” drugs, and tests. Scientific American endorses Harris, saying she’s the right choice for your health. Kundera makes no distinction between legal and illegal vandalism. Bret puts forward further arguments for why it is the time to Rescue the Republic, and why fear is not the way forward. Heather reads about serpent badassery at the equinox.

In this 243rd in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this week’s episode, we discuss the evidence for the traps being laid by Goliath, continuing last episode’s discussion of the presidential debate. Then: sex, gender, meaning, and identity. What kind of science is being done that concludes that sex and gender are not just distinct, but unrelated? And why are 10 year olds being asked if they’re transgender, or how much they feel like a boy, or a girl? While “scientists” use models to produce results that make no sense, adolescents stop pursuing meaning, which is dynamic and expands one’s horizons, and instead focus on identity, which is all too-often a static dead-end.

In this week’s episode, we discuss the presidential debate: what happened, and how much of it constituted traps, set for us to fall in to? How was the magic trick done? Also: when people tell you who they are, believe them. Finally: bats bats bats bats bats. As insectivorous bats succumb to a fungal disease (White Nose Syndrome), farmers respond by using more insecticides, and in those areas where higher insecticide use has been documented, infant deaths are on the rise.

In this 241st in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this week’s episode, we discuss food, science, and myth. Research out of Tufts University three years ago created the Food Compass—a new guide to what is healthy that rivals the Food Pyramid for sheer lunacy. Advising us that Froot Loops and Pringles are healthier choices than meat and eggs, the authors of that research are now promoting ESG + Nutrition, in which their Food Compass informs governments and private enterprise on how to get the population of the world to follow along. Then: What is history, what is myth, and when is it appropriate to stop talking and be quiet already? Real figures from history—Jesus, King David, Churchill—are also mythic; to what degree do the myths verge from the reality, and what are the conditions under which we are obliged to care? Also mentioned: the Censorship Industrial Complex, Pathological Noble Liars, and Dumbledore’s Army. Finally: a few words on the death of Paul Harrell, who advocated for the responsible use of firearms.

Discussion of push polls and push texts, bread and circuses, ponies and balloons. Also: the party of science doesn’t understand science. And: why did RFK Jr. talk to the Harris campaign? Finally: actual joy, mixed with sadness, as our children leave home. Why parenting is the most amazing job you can have, and how any population that forgets that is at risk of losing the plot, if it hasn’t already.
