  • The Day Of The Lord
The church keeps a calendar. We mark time from a grave that would not stay shut, and we mark time toward a day that has a name. Scripture does not leave that day unnamed; it calls it the Day of the Lord—sometimes simply "the day" or "that day,". This lesson is not about calculating a date (Paul says we have no need of that kind of writing). It is about knowing what kind of day is coming and what kind of people we are supposed to be while we wait. Get the day wrong and we will get the waiting wrong—growing either frantic or dull. The New Testament will allow us neither. Come and listen to this study in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 as we learn how to wait for that day with clarity, hope, and holy urgency.

  • Why God Called Zerubbabel His Signet Ring
This sermon explores the theological significance of the signet ring imagery in Haggai 2:20-23, contrasting God's judgment against King Jehoiachin with His promise to Zerubbabel. The central message asserts that God remains faithful to both His judgment and His covenant with David by maintaining the messianic line through Zerubbabel, who serves as a type of Christ. The exposition resolves the apparent conflict between the two genealogies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke, explaining how the virgin birth and legal adoption by Joseph allow Christ to fulfill the Davidic promise without inheriting the curse of Jehoiachin. Ultimately, the sermon presents Christ as the true signet ring on whom the Father has set His seal, assuring believers that they are eternally secured and chosen in Him.

  • Delivered to Depend
Delivered to Depend Delivered, Yet Still Learning to Depend Numbers 7–13 Central Truth: God delivered Israel from Egypt, but He was still teaching them how to depend upon Him. His provisions were never intended to replace His presence, His promises, or His Word. This message follows Israel's preparation and early journey through the wilderness, revealing how God organized, guided, provided for, and corrected His redeemed people. By comparing the dates in Exodus and Numbers, we discover that God established the tabernacle, assigned responsibilities, and prepared the congregation before directing them to move. The cloud, silver trumpets, and tribal standards reminded Israel that they were not free to determine their own direction. They were to move when God said move, remain when He said remain, and faithfully fulfill the responsibilities He had given them. Yet, almost immediately, the people began complaining. Although God faithfully supplied manna, they became dissatisfied and longed for the food of Egypt. Deuteronomy 8 reveals that the manna was more than a meal; it was God's way of teaching them that life depends upon every word that proceeds from His mouth. Their craving for quail exposed a deeper problem. Psalm 106 explains that God gave them what they demanded but sent leanness into their souls. They received what they wanted, but their desires were pulling them away from the One they needed. The message challenges us to consider what we are exhausting ourselves to obtain and whether God's gifts have become more important to us than God Himself. The Lord also demonstrated His faithfulness by appointing seventy elders to help Moses carry the burden of leadership

  • All About Scripture 7: New Testament Overview- The NT Canon (2 of 2)
This lesson examines the nature, date, and recognition of the New Testament canon, arguing that the church functions as a recognizer rather than a creator of Scripture. It refutes the notion that canonical status was arbitrarily assigned by later councils, emphasizing instead that the books possess inherent divine qualities such as apostolic origin, internal unity, and spiritual power. The text highlights how early church fathers and New Testament authors themselves treated these writings as authoritative Scripture, demonstrating that the canon was settled by the fourth century through organic reception. By using the analogy of a thermometer, the sermon clarifies that the church detects the canon without altering it, affirming that the Bible is self-authenticating. The message concludes with a pastoral call for believers to be confident in the authority of Scripture and prepared to defend its distinctiveness against secular critiques.
