Jason Karlawish is a geriatrician, a writer, a professor of medicine, medical ethics and health policy and neurology at the University of Pennsylvania, and is co director of the Penn Memory Center where he cares for patients. I couldn't wait to speak to Dr. Karlawish about his compelling and eye opening new book, The Problem of Alzheimer's How Science, Culture and Politics Turned a Rare Disease Into a Crisis and What We Can Do About It. It answered so many of my questions regarding research, policy and how we got here.

Jessica Zitter, MD, MPH, specializes in Critical Care and Palliative Care medicine, and practices at a public hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of Extreme Measures: Finding a Better Path to the End of Life. Her essays and articles have appeared in the New York Times, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and other publications. Her work is featured in the Oscar and Emmy-nominated documentary, Extremis, as well as her ilm, Caregiver: A Love Story. Which you can view virtually. Leeza was thrust into the world of Alzheimer’s when her mother was diagnosed in 1999. Throughout her journey, she observed the many challenges of caregiving and the importance of caregivers taking care of themselves.
