Democratic nominee for Vice President, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, addressed the DNC last night with an energetic and moving speech about his background in congress and policy priorities as governor. Debbie and Rusty discuss their takeaways from the speeches last night and are joined by Shannon Rhodes, Chair of the Cache County Democratic Party, live from Chicago to hear what the feeling is ahead of Day 3. Boyd Matheson, Host of Inside Sources, also weighs in on what he expects to hear from Vice President Kamala Harris as she officially accepts her party's nomination for U.S. President.

A Murray family said school fees cost over $500 for their student's core and elective classes. Why are school fees so high and is there any relief in sight for Utah families? Debbie and Rusty discuss this issue and ask listeners to call in about how much they've paid in school fees. Utah House Representative Mark Strong also joins the conversation to provide insight into what the state of Utah is doing to try to help out with this issue.

Gov. Spencer Cox has called for an audit of the Davis County Clerk's Office's processing of signatures as Phil Lyman continues his fight to be Utah governor. How will this audit work and is it necessary? Debbie and Maura speak with Davis County Clerk, Brian McKenzie.  

In the spring of 2017, a nonpartisan coalition of community leaders, redistricting advocates, and grassroots citizens launched the Better Boundaries initiative. The citizen-led initiative was able to pass a ballot initiative Prop 4., in 2018, but the law was soon tweaked by the state government. Following legal back and forth, Utah Lawmakers will meet today to discuss changing the state constitution to allow for government intervention in the initiatives. Katie Wright, Executive Director at Better Boundaries joins Maura and Debby to discuss why her organization is disappointed. 

A new state law requires every Utah school to have an armed guardian on site, every day. 

The goal is to protect against school threats. But several districts are struggling to find volunteers willing to respond with lethal force. And there are concerns about who these school guardians will be. Among many other things, the law clearly states the guardians can’t be teachers or principals, and they can’t be assigned the job. They must volunteer. KSL Reporter Deanie Wimmer has been talking to schools and shares insight.

The Canyons School District board on Tuesday approved a contract for the $50 million purchase of the old eBay headquarters in Draper. The 215,000-square-foot facility sits on 36 acres, all of which the district plans to put to use. The district plans to transform the building into a technical school, where Utah's high schoolers can take hands-on STEM courses. As technical job demand grows, the district hopes its new facility will fit right in among Utah's silicone slopes. Jeff Haney, Communications Director for Canyons, outlines the plan.

Ukraine has been targeting Moscow overnight in what the mayor of the city is calling one of the biggest attempted drone attacks on the Russian capital of this war. Moscow's air defenses shot down at least 11 attack drones. Debbie and Maura speak with Brandon Amacher, the director of the Emerging Tech Policy Lab for the I3SC and an instructor for the Utah Valley University Center for National Security Studies about how significant it is for Ukraine to target Russia with drones.

Day two of the Democratic National Convention included an energetic delegate roll call, an address from Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and speeches from both Michelle and Barack Obama. Michelle Obama focused her message to the convention on hope, and Barack Obama described Harris as a candidate he wants to see in office, while both took shots at Donald Trump. Brad Townley, Incoming Utah Democratic Party National Committeeman, is at the convention in Chicago and paints a picture of what it's like in the arena. Inside Sources Host Boyd Matheson joins Debby and Maura Carabello to look deeper in the strategies at play at the DNC.
