Dave and Debbie first do a check in on traffic and weather for this snowy February day in Utah.  Heather Kelly from the KSL Traffic Center and Matt Johnson, KSL Meteorologist bring the latest details on traffic and weather this morning.  

We are in the final week of the session.. and top of the mind right now is the pitch for the billion dollar MLB ballpark.. that seems close to reality here in Utah. Holly Richardson Editor with Utah Policy joins the show to talk about top of mind issues taking place this week as Utah's 2024 legislative session enters it's final week.

Dave and Debbie consider the 'what ifs?" What if something happens to 77 year-old Trump? The average lifespan of a man is 76. What if says or does something that alienates everyone? What if the gets convicted on all these indictments and ends up in jail? KSL Inside Sources Host Boyd Matheson joins the hosts to discuss if there a viable second option to Trump. Haley's plowing ahead as that option, despite several primary losses so far. Also joining the show, Ally Isom, former Senate candidate, has thrown her support behind Nikki Haley, along with Lt. Governor Diedre Henderson and First Lady Abby Cox.

Workers forced to come back to the office are two-and-a-half times more likely to say they "resent" their returns, and their employers, over those who come back willingly. Instead of massive layoffs, companies have always been seeking to find more discreet ways to trim their workforce, including making people come back into the office, pushing workers out of the job. There are other consequences of remote work, and Dave and Debbie get into all the details.

Home prices are back up and so are interest rates. The median price for a home in January was $485,000, which is right where it was for October and November of last year. Interest rates on new mortgages are back up around seven-percent. Dave and Debbie are joined by Dejan Eskic with the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute and he blames interest rates for causing a housing shortage.

Nikki Haley's home state of South Carolina, where she was elected twice as governor, just sent her and her campaign a staggering message… "We want Donald Trump." Haley lost South Carolina in a landslide. Trump got 60% of the vote and Haley got 40%. Part of what makes this such a devastating loss for Haley is that Trump will hardly acknowledge her right now. Dave and Debbie discuss.

Utah lawmakers are delivering on promises of tax cuts.  The latest is cutting the income tax rate, 4.65% to 4.55%. But are lawmakers really just shifting around taxes to make us feel better this session? They're doing this to keep up with other states: There are 30 other states in this nation that have a lower tax burden on their citizens. How can lawmakers reduce taxes while all SLC residents, no matter what age, how many kids you have, will have to pay more in sales tax to fund an NHL stadium...

It's the final week of a 45 day legislative session -- like we're in the bottom of the 9th and lawmakers trying to score 2 pro sports stadiums in 5 days. Dave feels better about the MLB stadium because Utahns will own it, but what does that actually mean for Utahns? The billion dollar ballpark on the west side, which D2 will be broadcasting live from tomorrow, sounds like it's a done deal on the Hill.
