We learned this morning that the Utah Dept. of Health is in the process of developing a public-facing dashboard that would include COVID-19 data for individual schools. It's something at least one school district wants, Granite School District, to help slow the rumor mill. State health officials have been meeting with education representatives to develop the system -- and discussing what data to include. Tom Hudachko with the Utah Dept. of Health joins us to tell us more about it. The one concern health officials are working through, though, involves privacy. Our question is, if the state can publish data about individual nursing homes, why not specific data for schools?

The back and forth about masks in Provo, Utah, continues. Last week the City Council passed an ordinance requiring wearing masks in public. Then, Provo City Mayor Michelle Kaufusi vetoes the plan. Then the council over-rode her veto. NOW, there's a citizen's referendum to put this issue to the voters. We speak with Maryanne Nielsen, the organizer of the referendum.

Hazing at East High School has apparently been taking place for years, and now the details are coming to light. That's because of what happened at the front door of a former Salt Lake City mayor. Her doorbell camera caught a teen being chased by three older kids--he banged on her door pleading for help after he said he was forced into a car to have his head shaved as part of a hazing incident. We'll speak with  Yandary Chatwin of the Salt Lake City School District, who said the district needs more parents and students to come forward to help put a stop to hazing. Then we'll bring on Tom Golightly, a psychologist at BYU, to help us understand why hazing happens, and how detrimental it can be to kids.

The FBI calls him the Band-aid bandit. A suspected serial robber has hit a number of streets and banks across the Wasatch Front, and he apparently wears bandages on his fingertips when he robs. Nearly 300 students at Utah State University are quarantined this morning on their first day of school. Why? Not because they've tested positive for COVID, but because their wastewater did. It's a way of detecting an outbreak before it gets worse. But some are raising questions about whether this means Utah State University needs to go fully-remote now, including the Aggie's student newspaper.
