August 20, 2020Paintgate: Sen. Kitchen caught "red-handed?"State Sen. Derek Kitchen says his small donation to a criminal justice cause was not "intended to facilitate vandalism." But a search warrant alleges that he donated $10 through Venmo with the note "paint" to a woman who, along with others, is accused of defacing the DA's office with red paint.Sen. Kitchen says he didn't attend the protest and that he doesn't condone the violence or vandalism that took place. Now, the Utah State Fraternal Order of Police is demanding an ethics investigation into Sen. Kitchen's donation, and that he be charged as a co-conspirator in the case.
