Dave Lapham took time to do some reminiscing about his former teammate and crosstown rival Dick Jauron, who passed away on February 8th from cancer.
While Jauron only played a few years with the Bengals, Lap knew all about one of the all-time greatest football players and athletes from Massachusetts as the two grew up just a short distance away.
Jauron was great not only on the field but also in the classroom. In 1972, at Yale, he was selected as a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and set records that stood until the early 2000s.
Jauron would enter the coaching profession after his playing days and, after serving as an assistant coach for the Bills, Packers, and Jaguars, would be named the head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Dick Jauron was 74 years old and will be missed.
