Softy and Dick are out at Snoqualmie Ridge for the Boeing Classic. We talked about it yesterday, but today it's official; Jacob Eason will start for the Dawgs against Eastern Washington, although Jake Haener will get plenty of playing time in the game, likely as a reward for putting as much time in as he has. More tough news for the Seahawks on the injury front as it appears David Moore will be out for a considerable period of time. How confident are you in the receiving corps as it stands right now? Chris Petersen spoke earlier today. We've got the audio of him announcing the starting quarterback. Breaking news: We're hearing the new starting Washington quarterback has been named and it's Jake..... err... Jacob Eason. This isn't really a huge surprise, but something kept Coach Petersen from making this decision a long time ago. There are actually two interesting Mariners games taking place this weekend at T-Mobile Park. When was the last time we could say that? First, Justus Sheffield, one of the M's' top pitching prospects is set to get a start tomorrow night. He didn't fair well in AAA earlier this season, but dominated after being demoted to Arkansas. It'll be one of our first opportunities to see one of the M's' theoretical starters for years to come. Then on Saturday, Felix Hernandez returns for what will likely be one of his last starts in a Mariner uniform. College football is back and it's time to make some money. Lee Sterling has picks for the opening weekend in college football.

How good will the Cougars be this year? Regardless of where they actually end up, they'll probably do better than one might expect considering they haven't gotten a four-star recruit recently. Mike Leach has proven to be pretty good in low-level programs. What could he actually do if he coached at a major college football program? Or is he one of those guys who only thrives being a big fish in a small pond. Russell Wilson spoke a little today, talking a lot about his Sounders purchase, and his love for this city. Could the NFL get away with shortening preseason games and still charging full price for tickets? It'd irritate people, but they'd still buy. A team name has finally been announced! We've been waiting for what feels like years, and now we finally know! No, not the hockey team name, the XFL team, which will henceforth be known as the Seattle Dragons. Yeah, it feels kind of corporate, with no real attachment to Seattle, but does that really matter? If they put a good product on the field, we'll all be huge fans, undoubtedly. Christian Caple posed a possibility few have considered in the ongoing Husky quarterback controversy: Could the Dawgs use two QB's this year? It's possible, but the money is still on Eason, and odds are we aren't going to find out until game time next week. What can be done to increase attendance at Husky games? Traffic is a major issue.
