Dave 'Softy' Mahler and Dick Fain

The Husky basketball team are over in Italy playing a few games. We've been talking a lot about hype on the show today, and Mike Hopkins and that team are another example of a team in this town with a ton of hype around it. It's absolutely amazing how far things have come since he took over just a couple of seasons ago. The Rolling Stones played a show last night in Seattle. To talk about the show with Gas is Duff McKagan, with his own Stones stories, plus thoughts on the music industry, and takes on the Mariners and Seahawks. Today, he co-hosts with Softy while Dick Fain continues his trip around the world, discussing everything that happened while he was in the other Washington, including the rise of Washington football under Coach Petersen, the overhaul of the Hawks, the current state of the Pac-12, and more.

We've talked a lot about what's happened in the last four years; now what's going to happen next? The NHL is coming to Seattle in just a little over two years, and despite the angery from some NBA fans, this is a good thing. When though, can we expect to get that elusive basketball team back? Will it be through expansion or relocation? Christian Caple joins the show to talk all things Dawgs. There's technically still a question about who will start at quarterback but it is most likely to be Eason. What will he bring to the team? If they're going to get that much credit for playing a weaker schedule, why should they even bother playing a tough non-conference schedule? Is there a guarantee that a fourth-rounder makes the roster? There's certainly a spot for the young receivers on this roster. Have we seen enough out of D. K. The Mariners honored Edgar Martinez over the weekend, and despite everyone's love for Gar, many have had enough of the team reminiscing about the glory days, but what do you want them to do? There isn't much to celebrate right now, and there hasn't been much to celebrate for almost two dedcades. Maybe this rebuild will turn things around, but we're obviously not there yet. Lenny Wilkens is going to get a street named after him near the new arena, and that's gotten people upset too, but Lenny has earned the honor, and right now there's know better place to honor him. Yes, maybe someday the Sonics will be back, and we'll have a proper place for a tribute, but we're not in that position right now. Cassius Marsh has made his return to the Seahawks this season.
