The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds in LA, and Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund at home - break down all the major talking points after Washington's historic 52-42 win over the No. 20 USC Trojans.
For starters, it's the first time Washington has won back-to-back times at USC since the 1935 and 1937 seasons, so that was a major breakthrough. And Dillon Johnson's 256 yards put him fifth all-time on the UW single game rushing list, just in front of Louis Rankin's 255-yard effort at Stanford back in 2007.
And it was the first time the Huskies have beaten a Heisman Trophy winner since 1981, when they beat Marcus Allen and USC 13-3.
To begin the show, Kim set the scene at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and then the guys got to work breaking down the main storylines, starting first with Johnson's amazing game on the ground.
We guarantee no one had Dillon Johnson running for as many yards as Michael Penix Jr. did throwing the ball - and winning the game - but that's exactly what happened.
And then they broke down Penix's night, one that has to put him right in the thick of the Heisman Trophy discussion, if he wasn't already.
After a quick break, they turn to the other side of the ball and look at Caleb Williams and what he was able to do against the Washington defense, as well as the Trojans' potent run game.
Kim offered up the team and individual stats, and then the talk had to turn to the officiating - the good and the bad. And there was a LOT of bad to talk about. But you should never expect to get a break on the road, and the Huskies lived out that existence on Saturday night without question.
Before they offered up their final thoughts on the night - including whether or not they expect Washington to move up in the next College Football Playoff rankings, Chris wondered aloud; what happens if Washington goes 12-0 but loses to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship? There's at least one hot take you're going to want to check out to see if you agree.
And then the game time for Utah was announced - 12:30 pm PT - so that sets up another titanic matchup in a November that was always destined to be remembered.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - got up bright and early Saturday morning to offer up their thoughts on Washington's opponent today, the USC Trojans, as well as talk about which UW team shows up today - the one that beat Oregon, or the one that squeaked by Arizona State and Stanford.
But before the game preview begins, the guys discuss the big news that came out during the week - the release of the 2024 Big Ten Football schedule. You can check out the full schedule HERE. What are the guys' takes on the schedule? Did it treat the Huskies fairly, as well as the other new Big Ten programs located out on the west coast?
Then the talk moves to today's UW-USC game. It's the first time the Huskies have been to LA Memorial Coliseum since 2015 (a game they won), and the guys start the conversation out with the lingering injury questions. Who is going to be available today? It sounds like Tuli Letuligasenoa should be available, but what about Jalen McMillan? What about Asa Turner and Kamren Fabiculanan?
The conversation then veered into the other big storyline coming out of Montlake this past week; the first College Football Playoff ranking. Washington checked in at No. 5, right in front of Oregon but out of the playoff places. Is it justified? Do the national talking heads have it right in downgrading the Huskies because of their last two games?
And the Washington defense, one that has started to step up and refuse to break...will they have enough gas in the tank to deal with current Heisman Trophy candidate Caleb Williams and his cadre of skill players, starting with running back MarShawn Lloyd and receivers like Brenden Rice and Tahj Washington?
After a quick break the guys flip it to the other side of the line and wonder if USC is looking at this as a 'get right' game against Washington's offense. Can they limit UW's shots down the field? Is there a chance of that happening considering the Trojans' woeful record in allowing big plays to happen? And why is USC still sticking with DC Alex Grinch?
Whatever happens today, it's a 'Show Me' game for both the Huskies and Trojans. It's one of the featured national games this weekend, in prime time on ABC, so there's no excuses. The games you remember are played in November, and Kalen DeBoer showed last year he takes November vçry seriously - including ranked wins over Oregon State and Oregon.
To finish out the pregame show, Kim and Chris update fans on the two games the men's basketball team play this coming week - Monday versus Bellarmine and Thursday against Northern Kentucky - and then the guys round out the show with their final thoughts on the game. It should be one for the ages.
Luke Mounger and Jack McCauley offer their insight into what they see happening Saturday afternoon at the LA Coliseum as Washington looks to go 9-0 on the season. Also included is Pick the Pac, Bets to Bark, and finally their confidence intervals for the UW-USC game.
Husky coaches Eric Schmidt, Scott Huff and JaMarcus Shephard discuss Washington's game vs. Stanford last week and look forward to their game against USC this Saturday
USCFootball.com Senior Staff Writer Connor Morrissette talks to Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds and breaks down what he's seen from the Trojans on both sides of the ball and what he's expecting to see Saturday when Washington and USC square off at the LA Coliseum.
Guard Sahvir Wheeler, guard Koren Johnson, center Braxton Meah, and center Franck Kepnang talk to Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds during UW Men's Basketball Media Day this week.
Washington Quarterback Michael Penix, Receiver Rome Odunze, Tight End Devin Culp, Left Tackle Troy Fautanu, EDGE Bralen Trice, linebacker Ralen Goforth, linebacker Alphonzo Tuputala, and linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio talk about the Stanford win, going on the road to USC, and more.
In less than 24 hours, Washington Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Hopkins met with the media twice - once right after UW's 103-58 exhibition win over St Martin's and then Monday afternoon. In the second media session, Hop went more in-depth in the change from the zone defense he brought in from Syracuse to a man-to-man defense designed by Hall of Famer Larry Brown.
Hop gave his thoughts on what he saw after watching tape of the St Martin's game, the transition from zone to man and the part Brown played as the new defense's architect, and how he's going to manage arguably the deepest roster he's had since he's been on Montlake.
Washington Co-Defensive Coordinator William Inge, Offense Coordinator Ryan Grubb, and Head Coach Kalen DeBoer all spoke to the media Monday to field questions about what they saw on the Stanford game film, as well as what they expect from the Huskies' next opponent, the USC Trojans.
Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, quarterback Michael Penix Jr., running back Dillon Johnson, and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad talk to the media after beating the Cardinal on The Farm.
