Dawson’s Weak(ly) episodes

  • S4, E7 - Chemmed to Death in an Inflatable Funhouse

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, the start of this episode is very, very dry so we’re doing our best to moisten it a bit (despite mercury retrograde). Bad Dad Reformed is great and we’re sad he’s no longer with us, everyone is blaming Jen which we hate and don’t understand and both Andie and Joey have big questions to answer. Also, Drue is taking the Patrick Bratman psychopath up a level. We’re chatting whether the college advisor looks like Dana Scully (which leads us to some interesting places), what’s going to be on Katie’s tombstone, who Drue is the child of (it’s weird but so accurate) and decent messaging around mental health (again). Also, Katie has a special song for you all. So, let’s tolerate an incredibly dry opening, needlessly ice our friends out, ask massive questions and end up sorting it all out at Gail’s Fishy Surprise. And remember people, only YOU have the answer to those massive questions.

  • S4, E6 - White Privilege Rave

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re at a rave! Except it’s the Capeside version of a rave so it’s sanitized and very possibly has the Chemical Brothers playing at it. Dawson is being deeply sanguine, Pacey and Joey are being boring, Gretchen is being insufferably smug and Andie is off her face. Also, Katie still fancies Drue even though he has blue streaks in his hair. We’re chatting  Gretchen’s ‘super cool’ love of Morcheeba, Pacey saying the most disturbing thing ever,  the fan fiction we need in our lives and Katie’s research on the interaction between ecstasy and anti depressants (thrilling). So, grab your massive purple horse tranquilizer ’ex’ pills and your glow sticks and let’s go to a rave where there is a car park, paramedics and the same Chemical Brothers song playing for hours. See you on the bouncy castle!

  • S4, E5 - Spermicide and Homicide

**trigger warning for discussion about terminations of pregnancy and miscarriage**

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re getting into reproductive rights everyone (more interesting than it sounds). Surprisingly (or not) Gail and Mitch seem to be accidentally pregnant and are, as always, making Dawson a part of it. Elsewhere, Joey is worried about sex and Jack and Andie are coaching kids to play soccer. We’re also about to find out Gretchen’s big ‘secret’ (we guessed it already). We’re chatting what sort of serial killer Dawson will be (because he definitely will be one), Katie has a theory for where both Bodie AND Eve disappeared to, another terrible Capeside business model and the terrible SAIDs epidemic. So, grab your pregnancy tests, condoms and balls and let’s work out if we’re ready or not ready or maybe prepared or not prepared to be ready or who the hell knows really?

  • S4, E4 - Poems About ME

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re drinking vodka and recording face to face backstage at one of the gigs of the band Kathryn’s husband is in so we apologise in advance for some background noise. It’s getting REAL this episode with some really good stuff about the pressures of going to college. We’ve got another dodgy Capeside party and, whoop, whoop, the return of DRUNK JOEY! Also, steel yourselves because both Kathryn and Katie have got some disturbing confessions to make. We’re chatting about how Mitch ruins lives, what exactly Joey is upset about, truly awful gender representations and how much bacteria is in that party punch… So, let’s head to another Capeside rager, stress out about college, engage in more ridiculous gender stereotypes (seriously, enough already with that) and celebrates Jen’s not birthday! And remember, some people like dressing on the salad, some people like their dressing on the side. Solid advice, drunk Joey.

  • S4, E3 - Bilged On Her Anchor

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re getting all Shakespearean on it with some (slightly inaccurate) references to The Two Gentlemen of Verona. But wait everyone! There’s also a storm a brewing (nothing to with The Bard) and we are getting the MOST DRAMATIC EPISODE EVER. We’re chatting what Mitch and Gail are actually ill with, attitudes and messaging around mental health, how it’s ‘couldn’t care less’ not ‘could care less’ and Katie is now a yacht/weather/everything expert. Also, we spend far too much time chatting about who alive or dead we want to have dinner with (and Jesus is catering this party). Oh and we’re singing again but also doing cockney accents (which we’re terrible at despite being British). So, let’s piss about at a yacht club where everyone is quite awful, not understand or accept weather systems then take to the high seas during some of the out takes from A Perfect Storm and be a HERO, everyone.

  • S4, E2 - Bohemian Crapsody

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re back at school and Pacey is truly having a rubbish time of it. Joey is cosplaying (kind of) a rich person again, Mitch appears to have ANOTHER job he is completely unqualified for and Gretchen and Dawson are being extraordinarily pretentious. Also, in a shocking turn of events, Henry (who is nowhere to be seen, thank god) is over Jen and Andie is the voice of reason and sanity. And we’re singing,, oh yes, we are SINGING. We’re chatting Dawson being back on the edibles and his questionable CD collection, what was meant by ‘cyber sex’ in the early 00’s,  psychotic hair and brilliant names for paint. So, let’s take a hit from our bong, keep secrets from the people we love the most, encounter a future Patrick Bateman and absolutely not flunk out of senior year. And remember everyone, it was a 10 year old Gretchen who broke Nirvana!

  • S4, E1 - At Least Something is Getting Shucked

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, it’s time to celebrate because it’s SEASON 4 and we’ve got a ‘dive in’ to attend! Joey and Pacey are back, Pacey has a divisive haircut and we need to know what went down (or didn’t) on that boat. The writers are really trying to get us to buy into Dawson with some witty one liners and damp hair (not working). Also, we hear Jack and Dawson paint houses… We’re chatting Joey’s lovely outfits (the blue top, stop with that, Joey, you hottie!), Dawson’s new hobby, Doug drinking breakfast rose and how Mitch and Gail are still awful. So, let’s get our bathing suits on, be confused about what ‘last year’ and ‘last spring’ actually means, attend a well named ‘dive in’ and get this season going! Also, remember you don’t look at the mantel piece when the fire is poking you (thanks, Katie!)

  • S3 Ramble - Vagina of Doom

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, we’re drinking a lot of wine and meandering our way nonsensically through S3. As requested by our incredibly attractive listeners, Katie is having a crack at some of the minor characters backstories (obviously she’s  got Zen Gwen on uppers and drugging  teenagers). We also answer your questions and really have a think about the impact Dawson’s Creek had on us and why it endures after all these years. We’re chatting Katie’s total 180 on Ben Street, the kiss that launched a minor Twitter spat, our deep love for Pacey Witter (because of course) and we don’t really chat about Dawson because who can be bothered really? Also, Katie gets real about what exactly happened with Pacey and Joey on that boat trip…  So, break out a nice cold glass of sauvvy b, stick on this madly rambling recap of what has been a really good season, relive some horny moments and get ready for S4!

  • S3, E23 - Cocaine Road Trip From Hell (Live in Manchester)

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, it’s the season 3 finale, True Love, and we’re live in (Colin) Manchester! Apparently Mitch and Gail are getting married again and Joey and Dawson are the wedding party (which is a bit sad and they’re a bit sad and it’s all a bit sad. And annoying). Meanwhile, Grams is clearly at the narcotics and is driving madly around with some possibly kidnapped teenagers in the back of her car.  We’re chatting Pacey’s coastal curb crawling, Jen’s coffee breath, another pastel bridesmaid dress and the great 180 Bad Dad does. Also, we celebrate the first ‘passionate’ homosexual kiss on network tv, it might involve Ethan but it’s still hot. So, let’s go to what must be an incredibly hastily planned wedding, ask someone to stay, make some appalling crying faces, hop on some True Love and sail off into season 4 (without any clean knickers).

  • S3, E22 - Dead Grandfather's Trousers

An in depth and irreverent look at 90's TV classic Dawson's Creek hosted by Kathryn and Katie.

This week, it’s the prom but a special kind of prom for (attractive) ‘alternative’ people. Dawson continues to be the worst person in the world and Mitch and Gail aren’t far behind him. We’ve also got Ethan back and being a total manipulative horror (Katie was right all along). We’re chatting how much Dawson needs therapy from Freud on cocaine because of his awful parents, self actualisation, dialling up the bigot and Katie asks us all a virtually unanswerable question… Also Ethan gets Katie good with his hilarious joke. So, let’s get our best 90’s frosted eyeshadow on,  go to a prom that’s alternative (but only if you’re pretty!), have an incredibly intimate and horny dance and remember everything.
