It's hard to believe but 2019 marks 25 years since the first episodes of the Vinyl Cafe went out on CBC Radio. Stuart McLean soon became of the country's biggest stars and biggest live attractions, touring in Canadian cities and towns, big and small. The shows introduced us to musicians, Stuart told stories about the towns he visited, and of course, we followed the lives and misadventures of Dave & Morley and their family... who never did get a last name. Two new collections of CDs are now available to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Vinyl Cafe. Volume 1 has those Dave and Morley stories, and Volume Two celebrates the communities where the show visited. Jess Milton is the woman who produced Stuart's show and also compiled these new discs.Russell Bowers spoke with her following a clip from Volume 1, Stuart reads a letter about Dwayne Carruthers, which talks about his love of music, especially 8-Tracks.

Climbing Mount Everest has become a big bucket list item with a tourism structure that will help you do it, even if it is still a dangerous and sometimes deadly climb. For Sharon Wood, it was arduous as she is not only the first Canadian woman to climb Everest, she was the first North American woman. and the first woman ever to successfully climb the West Ridge from Tibet. She made that climb in 1986, but the Canmore has waited till now to write her memoir about it. Sharon Wood spoke with Russell Bowers.
