00:21 Director Doug Liman makes first comments about Dark Universe film - IGN

First public statements about the film since reported as director
Wants to make a unique film - “Yeah, I mean first of all, I love those characters, and I love Warner Bros., and I love [producer] Scott Rudin, and it’s -- and you know, I get asked to come in and do things that are “unconventional.” If people want conventional, they don’t come to me. It’s why doing Invisible was like right up my alley -- because how can you be conventional when there aren’t even conventions that exist? And so you know when Warner Bros. wants to sort of turn the comic book genre on its head, they call me.”
Previously directed Swingers, The Bourne Identity, and Edge of Tomorrow

02:39 Jeremy Irons talks Justice League and The Batman  - Variety

Asked if he will have more to do in Justice League - “Similar, but then, of course, Ben’s going to make a Batman film next summer. He promises me there’s going to be a bit more of Alfred in that. In the “Justice League” we have seven major lead characters and I’m the butler to one of them. It’s clear I will not be dominating that film.”
Batman filming coming sometime in 2017
    7 major lead characters? 1. Batman, 2. Superman, 3. Wonder Woman, 4. Flash, 5. Cyborg, 6. Aquaman, 7?

  • Smallville’s 15th Anniversary – Pilot Review
Can you believe is has been more than 15 years since the Smallville pilot first aired? Season 1, Episode 1 of Smallville appeared on The WB on October 16, 2001, with more than 8 million viewers tuned in.

On today's podcast, we look back on the first episode of the long-running series. In this episode, we quickly see how Clark Kent is a hero, Lex Luthor is a villain, and how important the supporting cast is to the origin of Superman.

This episode sets up 10 seasons of television as well as the origin of the most iconic superhero of all-time. Oh, and we also see a Kryptonite meteor shower and our first "freak of the week".

While comic book and superhero television is incredibly common now, that wasn't always the case. While Smallville wasn't the first DC Comics television series, it is one of the most popular and definitely one of the most important.

  • Wonder Woman’s 75th Anniversary – All-Star Comics #8 Review
Today, we celebrate Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary by reviewing her first appearance in comic books - All-Star Comics #8.

All-Star Comics #8 had a December 1941 cover date, but October 25, 1941 is recognized as the day it hit stores. DC Comics called last Friday, October 21 as Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary. Either way, it is time to celebrate Diana Prince.

This comic book is actually almost completely a Justice Society of America story. The first 60 plus pages are a JSA comic, with only 9 pages devoted to Wonder Woman's origin in the back.

What did William Moulton Marston accomplish in those 9 pages? A whole bunch. The story starts with Captain Steven Trevor crash-landing onto Paradise Island and continues as the Amazons compete to be chosen to take him back to America.

This comic gives us the back story of the Amazons and introduces us to many important parts of Wonder Woman's mythology. This served as an introduction to the character that continued in Sensation Comics #1.

On this podcast, we review the story and characters involved in the comic and talk about how this origin story holds up and could be involved with the 2017 Wonder Woman film.
