DCOM, Cool, and Collected

This week we talk about our last DCOM from 2005, Twitches. Where the Mowry sisters play extensions of their characters from Sister, Sister. And Kelly describes the storyline as Harry Potter meets The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe meets Star Wars.

This is it y'all the countdown to High School Musical ends next week! (Is High School Musical a New Year's movie?? If we use the logic people use for Die Hard being a Christmas movie, then I argue yes, it is a New Year's movie... Let us know what you think!)

Sorry for the late upload y'all! Kelly just forgot to upload it until 10 pm Thursday night because she's spent her week crafting her life away! But don't worry, this week we just watched a dog movie, and good dog movies DO EXIST, this is just not one of them!

Next week we're back with another animated DCOM: The Proud Family Movie. TTFN!

As everyone knows, figure skating is the gymnastics of the winter Olympics, and that's why Elizabeth and I had so many fun takes to share in this week's pod! We cover Go Figure (2005) and also discuss whether we consider ourselves Kristi or Tonya, Britney or Christina, and lots more!

If you're looking for some other figure skating recs (besides Go Figure or Ice Princess), we suggest the ESPN's 30 for 30: The Price of Gold, I, Tonya, and Netflix's Losers: Episode 3 - Surya Bonaly.

We'll catch you next week as we review ANOTHER dog-centered DCOM :/...

Hi everyone, sorry this was uploaded a bit late! Hope you weren't waiting on the edge of your seats for it. Buffalo Dreams is a movie that heavily involves Native culture, and we did our best to research and make sure to talk about what we found and if the representation seemed okay, but we are just doing our best with what we could find. This is the TikTok I referenced of a Native woman (@forwardlight on TikTok) talking about her and her preferences: https://www.tiktok.com/@forwardlight/video/6896586925415714053. We couldn't find any specific reviews from Native people about their opinions on this movie, so take what we say with a grain of salt.

Though we know it is not anyone's responsibility to educate us, if we did say something wrong or misrepresent something, and you'd like to let us know feel free to message us on Instagram so we can correct ourselves and educate others too. Again, we try to do independent research, but know that even still we will get things wrong. We don't hesitate to apologize when we do, and would just like to keep learning how to be the best allies we can be.

Next week we have a lighter movie, with Kim Possible: So the Drama.

Hi y'all Tiger Cruise is about 9/11 and we know this is a serious and sensitive subject so if that may be difficult for you to listen to we totally get it! Sit this one out if you need to. Any jokes we made during this podcast are not at the expense of the tragedy that happened, and if it came across that way we are sincerely sorry and will take responsibility for it. We can only speak from our limited knowledge and experiences, and also have to talk about these things the best way we know how to. Tiger Cruise is one of the most serious DCOMs, and we hope we did okay covering it. Next week we have a much lighter episode, so if this is too much for you, then don't worry Halloweentown High will be waiting for you then!

We watched Stuck in the Suburbs this week, and wow I (Kelly) felt like I was transported back to my childhood while watching this. What do SNL and Stuck in the Suburbs have in common? It's Taran Killam, y'all! Though, my favorite role of his will always be Spalding from Moody's Point. Next week we have a sharp turn as we watch Tiger Cruise.
