Richard Houghton is the man behind many 'fan histories' for some of the biggest bands in rock music history, having written books about The Rolling Stone, The Beatles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Thin Lizzy and Rush to name only a few. Unlike many traditional biographies and autobiographies, Richard's books are told through the eyes of the fans, giving a glimpse into the artists' impact on their lives and just some of their treasured memories of early and historic performances.

In this episode, Richard chats to Chris about where the inspiration came from for his first book and how it snowballed, leading to bands themselves commissioning him to tell their story through the eyes of their fans. In particular, Richard discusses one of his recent releases about one of Chris' all-time favourite bands, 'Lend Me Your Ears: The Fan History of Jethro Tull' which was endorsed by frontman Ian Anderson himself.

Richard's books are all available to order via Amazon, Spenwood Books and via major book retailers.

In this episode, Chris welcomes back singer-songwriter Maryen Cairns to talk about her long-awaited - and soon-to-be-released - new album, 'ANEW

“It was like a switch clicked inside my head and suddenly I was creating music from a new perspective, writing sidewards, out of the corner of my eye,” says singer-songwriter Maryen Cairns on her 7th album, ANEW.

Scottish-born, Australian raised, 10 years performing and writing in London’s original music scene, motherhood in the QLD rainforest - moved to the island of Guernsey not long before covid hit. Isolated in a place full of history’s remains, a seed of creativity germinated into something sweet. Recording in her home studio she captured the basis of the introspective, yet uplifting, mood.

ANEW is released on the 11th November 2022 and can be pre-ordered via Maryen's website: www.maryencairns.com
