Curious what kind of success students of Laptop Lifestyle Bootcamp achieve after leaving the program? This week I am joined by LLB Alum (& my bestie) Jess Thompson to take a look at her business journey and the factors that have helped her grow from tech VA to the go-to Dubsado expert for high-level entrepreneurs. From getting started before she knew exactly what she wanted to do, to niching down and upleveling her skills to stand out - there is so much to learn about commitment and self-belief from Jess's story   Jessica Thompson is a full-time traveler, wine lover, and amateur photographer. She has a sociology and business degree, and before traveling the world, worked in a law firm with the aim to become a constitutional attorney. Once she and her partner left to travel, they never looked back. When she lost her teaching job 2 years into traveling (and during Covid), she started her biz with Amanda's help! Jess enrolled in LLB, and planned on only having this biz until she could find a new, stable job. Now 2 years later her business is thriving. Jess's favorite things to do are eat and drink with her love, explore new cities, go for runs and hiking trips.      In this episode, we cover…

    • How she figured out what she wanted to do
    • The process and payoff of niching down over time
    • Becoming damn good at what you do
    • Allowing yourself to grow and shift as you go

  • 133. Getting a Part-Time Job as an Entrepreneur (& Other Smart Moves That Might Feel Like Failure)
There's this narrative out there that to be seen as successful in the online entrepreneurial space, you have to be completely all in and totally financially reliant on your business. Actions like getting a part-time job, putting some expenses on a credit card, and lowering your cost of living are  perceived as failures (or at least we might think they are). In this episode, I'm cutting the BS. We're talking about why these and many other moves not only should not be so taboo, but also how they may actually be smart business decisions at any level of business. I'm sharing my own experiences, conversations happening behind-the-scenes with my peers & clients, and encouragement for you to make the decision that's best for you and your business without fear of judgment.   In this episode, we cover…
    • Why getting a part-time job might actually be a power move
    • How (strategically) putting expenses on a credit card or investing in your environment can help your business grow
    • Taking shortcuts as a way to get where you want to go with less time and energy
    • Why income dips and lowering your cost of living are nothing to be ashamed of
    • The power of community to share about the hard parts of entrepreneurship
    • The need for transparent conversations like this to be happening in our space

Quotes "The investments come first. The ROI literally almost never comes first. And the sooner that you can wrap your head around that, the faster that you'll be able to make smart investments."   "If you can get used to the end goal being somewhat of a question mark, and not have to need so much security of where you're going and exactly how it's going to look like - That's where the magic happens."   "However you pay your bills and make it work - good for f*cking you. Because a lot of people couldn't figure it out and do it."   Links & Resources Mentioned in this Episode Laptop Lifestyle Co Links: Website Instagram Tik Tok YouTube Channel   Other Links Mentioned Laptop Lifestyle Bootcamp

  • Mini Moment Ep. 87: Overcoming Indecisiveness in Entrepreneurship
In these "Mini Moments" we pull some of my favorite and most impactful mini lessons from past episodes of the Made for More Podcast to give you a quick digestible lesson in under 10 minutes.   If you liked this mini moment, check out the rest of this full episode here - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/made-for-more-with-amanda-kolbye/id1529443551?i=1000558588676   Summary I believe wholeheartedly that the most dangerous place to be as an entrepreneur is in indecision. This is because when you are sitting in indecision, there is no way forward - you just stay stuck. In this mini moment I share why you should create personal guidelines to address risks and make decisions quickly. It's not about making the right choice, but instead choosing to take action and move forward decisively to create opportunity.   Our Favorite Quotes "Say yes, say no. But don't be a maybe. No one gets anywhere being a maybe."   "Learn to be decisive and just move forward. The risk and the fear comes form the pressure that you put on yourself to pick right or wrong."   Thanks for listening, and if you like what you've heard, I would greatly appreciate you shaing this episode with your friends or on your Instagram stories (and tag @laptop.lifestyle.co)! • Mini Moment Ep. 31: Why You Need To Take Action Instead of Staying In Motion
In these "Mini Moments" we pull some of my favorite and most impactful mini lessons from past episodes of the Made for More Podcast to give you a quick digestible lesson in under 10 minutes.   If you liked this mini moment, check out the rest of this full episode here - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/made-for-more-with-amanda-kolbye/id1529443551?i=1000510290992   Summary Sometimes entrepreneurs get stuck in motion, not actually taking action. In this mini moment, we are talking about the difference between motion and taking action, and why taking intentional action is the only way to truly move forward. I share the 4 major impacts of taking action: Taking action eliminates worry and fear, improves confidence, creates more impact, and allows you to learn through execution & feedback.     Our Favorite Quotes "Being in motion is like spinning in a circle whereas taking action is when you actually move forward."   Thanks for listening, and if you like what you've heard, I would greatly appreciate you shaing this episode with your friends or on your Instagram stories (and tag @laptop.lifestyle.co)!
