Part Eastern Band Cherokee, she is an Agatha Award winner, The Hillerman Sky Award Finalist, 3-time nominee for the Pushcart Prize, and two-time Anthony Award Finalist for Best Audiobooks Crescendo and Causing Chaos from her Smoky Mountain Inquest Series set in the great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.

She is a member of SinC National, International Thriller Writers, MWA SoCal, and is a past-president of the SinC Desert Sleuths Phoenix chapter.
