Welcome back to another episode of Decoding 40! The podcast is now picking up streams in Nebraska! Thanks to everyone in the Cornhusker State who is taking the time to listen to the show and share in the love.
This week, Rick returns home from Miami with a little something extra—Covid 19. And, positive test aside, Rick has been symptom-free and has been blessed with a case of Diet Covid. Vin and his family head over to the Bronx to celebrate Leon's youngest’s 10th birthday. It was a great time that included food, fun, drinks, and games. Leon and his wife played gracious hosts at their son's birthday event. He found himself in an almost road rage incident when he was duped by the “slow to move out of the spot” guy. We hate that guy!
Next, we discuss the release of Britney Griner and all the backlash from people who felt Paul Whelan would have made for a better swap. Did that have anything to do with America being racist? Lastly, we couldn't let the 2-hour release of the R. Kelly album I Admit It go by without a review and official breakdown.

This week, Leon takes a trip to Madison Square Garden to watch the Knicks play and actually win. It had been a minute since L.O. visited the Garden, and he quickly found out nothing changed except the concessions prices. Vin heads out to Long Island for his cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony with good food, friends, and family. Alaric is still down in South Beach finishing up at Art Basel. The Fearless Artist pop-up gallery was a success with one of the highlights being NORE as the opening night keynote speaker.
Next, we discuss the run–off election in Georgia where Senator Raphael Warnock marginally won by just 30,000 votes over Herschel Walker. You’ll also get to where our new segment “For the Love of Money” where we ask if you could wear MAGA and White Lives Matter gear for two years, but not tell anyone why you're wearing it. The payoff--$9 billion.

This week, Rick checks in from Miami, where Art Basel is in full swing and he's busy working with The Fearless Artist gallery. L.O. aka Leon Musk returns after renting a Tesla Model Y and heads up to Connecticut over the Thanksgiving break to be with family. Vin spends the Thanksgiving break at a potluck celebration hosted by Rick and his family. This time of the year is especially rough for some and Vin talks about his battle with depression.
Next, we discuss the controversy surrounding a recent Balenciaga ad that apparently included elements of BDSM and appeared to give a nod while paying homage to pedophilia and child pornography. In light of the backlash and outrage directed toward Kanye and Kyrie, the crew asks where are the calls for canceling this brand. And, oh yeah Jerry Jones gets some well-deserved heat for continually being on the wrong side of history when it comes to race relations in this country. Don’t think we forgot about you Jerral Wayne Jones!

Welcome back to another episode of Decoding 40! The podcast is now picking up streams in the city that raised us--New York City! We're always grateful for the love that we get around the world, but there's nothing that beats hometown love!
In this week's Check-In, L.O. loses his cell phone in an Uber and he with his wife go full bounty hunter trying to track it down. Vin goes out to the movies with the family and takes in the sodium-saturated cuisine of the Olive Garden. Alaric catches the latest cold from his sneeze-friendly son. Also, the guys also talk about Black Panther and Nas' latest studio release, King's Disease III, and a bunch of other cultural events lighting up the social sphere.
This week our guest, Welby Accely, a first-generation, New York-born, Haitian American, Welby was always to some extent on his own as he figured out a path toward prosperity. To make it, he would have to determine his own route to bigger and better things. There was never any real mentorship early on and his life, but when Welby would visit his godfather in Long Island he realize the stark difference in location and lifestyle compared to where he grew up. Seeing that his godfather became successful via the real estate market, Welby clung to the idea that real estate investing was worth his passion and devotion.
You do not want to miss this honest and open discussion about Welby's upbringing, his wins, and his losses.

Luckily, it was one of the cleaner “Kid Casinos”. Leon travels with his wife to Denver to celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary. It was a much-needed trip that helped recharge his batteries. Vin celebrates his 49th birthday with the boys of Decoding40 at Stolen Jackets and sees Harry Styles has taken residence at their favorite watering hole. He survived the night but paid for it the next morning.
Next, we discuss the Kyrie Irving controversy and whether or not he deserves the backlash that he’s receiving from the NBA and his corporate partners. Is there any way to question Jewish history without being antisemitic?

This week, Leon and his wife take a trip to the Poconos while celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary with family at a wedding. He finally divorces his barber in the last episode of “Mi Peluguero Secreto”. Rick takes the kids trick-or-treating in downtown Brooklyn where the festivities and candy were top-tier offerings. He also had the unfortunate experience of his first old man fall while leaving a coffee shop, luckily the only things he hurt were his phone and pride. Vin catches his youngest daughter trying to pull a fast one over on him and his wife, but he has a conversation to make sure she thinks twice before trying it again.
Next, the guys discuss parenting from the perspective of parents in a digital world versus the analog times of the 70s and 80s they grew up in. As the kids of moms and dads with more hands-off parenting, we found ourselves in situations lacking the advice we needed to make informed decisions. Today, we are still trying to find the right balance between raising kids with our wives. Are our children at a disadvantage? Or, are we giving them the best of both experiences?

This week, L.O. talks about his son's soccer team and their continued winning streak as they crush the competition 10-0. Vin has a quiet week as he remembered his mother on the 8th anniversary of her passing. Rick has a close call when he almost leaves a very expensive piece of equipment on the sidewalk. Luckily, an angel at a nearby restaurant found it and kept it safe.
Next, we discuss whether or not anyone under 30 should be giving relationship advice. It seems like everyone is a guru these days trying to convince the world they ha e the answer. However, if you've never been in a multi-year marriage or relationship then politely stop talking.

Welcome back to another episode of Decoding 40! The podcast is now picking up streams in Sin City, Las Vegas, NV! Thanks to everyone that continues to share the show. We can’t do it without you!
This week, Vin has car trouble when a small rock in the windshield turned into a huge crack. Did his insurance cover the trip to Safelight glass repair? Alaric hits a club up in the city to take in some live jazz but does his inner old man get the best of him? Or, does he make it through the night to see an impromptu visit to the club by Robert Glasper and Dave Chappelle? L.O.’s son's soccer team Cobra Kai'd the competition in a 15 to 0 romp. He also found himself in IG timeline beef with one of his favorite rappers. Is it true you should never meet your favorites even if it’s virtually?
Next, we discuss the news that has consumed this week’s celestial pop culture cycle, Ye. His white lives matter t-shirts, anti-Black, antisemitic remarks and the unthinkable alliance with Candace Owens have all of us wondering WTF? Has he lost his mind or is this another scam for him to make more money? Genius or Jester?

Welcome back to another episode of Decoding 40! The podcast is now streaming strong in Cincinnati, OH! Thanks to everyone in the Natti for showing us love.
This week, the guys sit back and unpack the latest in the news and society. Sometimes it feels like we're living in the Matrix and the programming is pumping out pain porn. And, every once and a while we all get fed up with everything. This is one of those weeks. From Kanye West, police brutality, or some dumb ass MAGA we just get sick and tired of the constant rotation of stories. We spend this hour just downloading and talking about what's really stressing us in the media. Whether you're working from home, on the train, or drinking coffee at your desk we appreciate you taking the time to plug into Decoding40.
