Merry Christmas from Decomposed Radio!
As promised, over the next few weeks we'll be featuring live mixes recorded at the amazing annual "Works Party" back in Early December. Next up amongst these is Sheffield DJ Sophie Keltie, who featured in one of the original early Decomposed Radio shows all the way back in August 2016!
Her mix from Show number 005 is still one of the most downloaded and listened to episodes, so it's fair to say that her unique, melodic deep, progressive house and techno sound is a firm favourite with Decomposed Radio listeners, and you're in for an absolute treat again with this one!
Sophie's early set at Plug nightclub took the place from standstill to going absoluteley crackers in no time at all, and set us all up for an incredible evening!
So have a banging New Year, and get set for Decomposed Radio favourite Sophie Keltie, live in the mix at Plug nightclub, Sheffield on the 7th December 2018.
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio. Here in Sheffield we're still reeling and recovering from the outrageous "Works Party" last weekend. The main event at one of Sheffield's best venues "Plug" nightclub, aswell as the afterparty at a secret Sheffield location were both absolutely incredible and the weekend was well and truly full to bursting with awesome music, fun and mischief! Every DJ on the lineup really stepped up to the mark and played outstanding sets, and I'm very very happy to say that we managed to record all the muisc in the main room, so expect to hear those mixes on Decomposed Radio over the next few weeks!
First up from this selection is our special guest for the night, Kelvin Briscall, who's a really accomplished DJ and producer, having made appearances behind the decks at all of London's landmark clubs, aswell as holding down residencies in Ibiza, and playig legendary gigs alongside Groove Armada on Bondi Beach!
After years of playing vinyl, he was one of the earliest adopters of digital DJing, and these days he uses a blend of production and DJ setups, controlled with a unique concoction of self built hardware meaning he has loops, effects, multiple decks and drum machines at his fingertips. In addition to all this, and especially for this mix, he's managed to mix the audio from his set with the live sound of the crowd at Plug last Friday night, so if you missed out you can feel like you were really there, or maybe re-live some memories if you were on the dancefloor in the main room! So turn it up, and get lost in this multi-genre mix from Kelvin Briscall, for Decomposed Radio 058.........
For Decomposed Radio show 057 I'm psyched to welcome back James Williams, otherwise know as "GAENZ," back by popular demand from over in North Wales. His previous appearance on show #042 is one of the most popular of the more recent shows, and after hearing rumours about an outstanding set at the now notorious Underground Llanberis bunker rave, we knew that we had to get him back on Decomposed Radio. So turn up the volume, get set and get psyched for this tough but dreamy techno mix from GAENZ...........
Welcome to Decomposed Radio 056. Following on from an incredible night at "The Third Motif" in Leeds the other weekend, we just had to get "Brother Ben" on the show, who is the main organiser of the series of parties known as "The Motif" in Leeds.
Also known as Ben Grounsell, he played an outstanding closing set during the early hours of the morning a couple of Fridays ago, and the deep techno mix that he's put together for show 56 is of similar quality and style.
I can't praise Ben and the rest of the crew responsible for Organising "The Motif" enough, for putting together a superb intimate techno night, where everything was on point.
The effort that was put in really showed, with people dancing well into the early hours, and the only bad thing was that it had to end!!
So to give you a little taste of proceedings, and an insight into future Motif events, check out "Brother Ben" for Decomposed Radio number 056.......
For Decomposed Radio Show #055 I'm super happy to introduce "Ecky Lad" also known as Ben Silvestre. Previously based in Sheffield and now living in the North Wales mountains, I've spent quite a bit of time this year climbing, drinking pints and even the odd bit of raving with Ecky Lad, so as such I was really happy to find out about through mutual friends about his secret talents for playing some really unique techno, and was even more psyched to hear the mix that he sent through for the show!
With bags of character, it really paints an audio portrait of Ben himself, and is guaranteed to become a Decomposed Radio classic along with Malx, Michaela Tracey, and DJ Decent and yet again makes me super proud of the amazing creative talent that we're surrounded by in our scene!
So standby, turn it up, and get a bit of Ecky Lad in your ears.........
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio!
Show number 054 showcases 18 year old Sheffield based DJ, and very talented producer "Porter Brook" also known as Peter Murch.
He'll be joining myself and Decomposed Radio favourite "C.B.R." on the lineup of up and coming Leeds techno night "The Motif" taking place at Eiger Studios on the 26th of October.
Influenced heavily by artists such as Brian Eno, LTJ Bukem and Underground Resistance, Porter Brook's musical style is a blend of ambient, techno, breakbeat and UK hardcore and his mix for the show includes a selection of original unreleased tracks, alongside selected existing cuts.
For more about Porter Brook's music, including his new release "Andorra" which is a sublime slice of emotive ambient techno, head over to his Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages, and hopefully catch up with some of you at Eiger Studios on the 26th of october in Leeds where he'll be playing a unique live set........
Welcome to a very special episode of Decomposed Radio! Show number 053 is inspired by the most iconic UK climbing film around, "Hard Grit."
Over 20 years after it was first released, the film still continues to be something really special, and one of the things that makes it so unique and outstanding is the incredible music in the film.
I've been on a bit of a mission for quite some time to track down all the individual tracks and finally managed to get them all together, thanks to one of the original producers of the film, Rich Heap.
It's been an amazing experience being able to listen to the music as standalone tracks, they really do stand out, and even capture a particular time in the Sheffield music scene, with the origins of labels such as "Warp Records" and the Bleep 'n' Bass genre!
There's an impressive variety of music in the film, from dark brooding numbers through to some really beautiful electronica, so I hope I've done it justice mixing it all together!
Another huge thank you goes to Tom at "The Laundry Rooms" studio in Sheffield, for help transferring the original DAT tapes and getting those elusive last tracks off them! So for show number 53, Decomposed Radio proudly presents: Hard Grit........
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio, and show number 052.
This time around, we're switching up the genres again with a frantic, fast and furious mix of tough electro and hard techno, from newcomer "Cell 303."
We managed to catch him playing at a couple of events over the summer, after which we just had to get him on the show for his individual style, character and music choice.
The mix he's put together for us definitely doesn't take any prisoners, and certainly isn't for the faint of heart, but for those of you that remember and used to dig Dave Clarke's "World Service" electro mixes, you're definitely in for a good time.
If you're into your training, be it climbing or otherwise, I can imagine some serious P.B.s getting smashed out to this mix!
So batten down the hatches, and lock up your pets and grandparents, for this fierce and ferocious mix from Cell 303 on Decomposed Radio #052............
Welcome to Decomposed Radio show #051, this time coming to you from the South of France! This week's show features an artist that I was lucky enough to Share the decks with down at Plot 22 in Sheffield a few weeks ago, in the form of DJ and producer Jackson Swaby.
We had loads of fun behind the decks, even if it was about 1000 degrees, and he was an absolute gent on the handover, which always makes things easier.
As well as his musical talents, he's also a Fine Art graduate, with an interest in all sides of art and music spanning many genres, so as a DJ all these influences combine to give an output which is a really nice exploration of styles, from warm grooves, through to colder, crunchier, more upfront records.
You can get a full track list for the mix over at the Decomposed Radio website, but without further adieu, lets get straight into this varied blend of techno styles, for Decomposed Radio 051, with Jackson Swaby.......
Welcome again to Decomposed Radio! For show #050, I'm super psyched to introduce DJ, producer, and very good friend Ses Memhi. I've known Ses for too long to mention, and he really is music personified!
Inspired by his cousin DJing, and being an 80's kid, he fell in love with electronic music early on, and has been behind the decks for a long as I've known him. His Dj talents have spanned pretty much all genres over the years, but have now firmly settled on techno, and he's always has an amazing knowledge and feel for both technology and rhythm, so as such is typically mixing 3 or more tracks at once when he's playing.
He has an impressive DJ CV, including winning DJ competitions, a residency at Ministry of Sound in London, as well as some memorable boat parties down that neck of the woods. So check him out on Facebook, Soundcloud and Mixcloud, but for now enjoy this superb mix of techno that he's put together, for Decomposed Radio #050, with Ses Memhi......
