Happy Friday and welcome to Decomposed Radio show #049! It's only 1 week until the amazing "Tramlines Festival" right here in Sheffield. As such, this week's show features one of the many talented DJ's that you can catch over the weekend.
On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the festival, the always on point "Plot 22" will be host to "The Fringe @ Tramlines" with free entry across all 3 days. On the night of and during the early hours of the Saturday night/ Sunday morning, the "Zone 88 Takeover" will be bringing some heavy house and techno vibes to proceedings. Featuring on their lineup is London based DJ/Producer "Blize" who has very kindly stepped up to bring us a mix of his trademark groovy, chunky tech house for the show, perfect for this incredible summer that we're having in the UK!
He's been a regular face behind the decks at Leeds's "The Mint Club" as well as the aforementioned Plot 22 in Sheffield.
You can catch him back 2 back with partner in crime Alex Caddy at 3am on the night of 21st July, shortly followed by Decomposed Radio's GusN8r, so hopefully see you at the front.......
For Decomposed Radio #048 we're proud to present accomplished DJ and producer "El Choop" who has been firmly on our radar since bumping into him at the amazing "No Bound Festival" in Sheffield, in October 2017. His set on the final night of the city wide festival has gone down as "the best Sunday night ever" and El Choop really caught our attention with his combination of super tight mixing, combined with an individual style of techno with a dubbed out edge, full of distorted delays and gritty echoes.
His productions have had releases on high calibre labels such as "Stardub" "Default Position" and the awesome "Etui Records" on which his track "Unknown Landscape" is a thing to behold, being a superb slice of deep, dub techno.
For more details of El Choop (also known as Harvey Bones) and his music, head over to his soundcloud page, and you can find some great releases of his on both Beatport and Bandcamp.
So with that, lets get straight into this cracking mix of Detroit Infused dub techno, for Decomposed Radio 048, with "El Choop."
Hi and welcome to the highly anticipated Decomposed Radio 2nd anniversary show. I'm so psyched that we've been able to continuously and regularly bring you superb house and techno mixes for two whole years, and am absolutely made up with the variety, breadth and quality of the artists that we've been lucky enough to feature. It's an absolute privilege to do what we do at Decomposed Radio, and hear the fantastic feedback from listeners all over the world! As is now Decomposed Radio tradition for the anniversary show, we have a stellar mix for you from the one and only "DJ Galup" or Sam Whittaker as he's also known! By now Sam needs no introduction to Decomposed Radio listeners, as his mixes are by far the most popular that we feature, with around 5,000 downloads to their credit, but needless to say Galup has upped the ante yet again, and smashed it out of the park with another incredible mix! It's an absolute whopper being the best part of two hours, and includes some cracking up to date and old skool techno that's melodic, tough, and everything in between, and as you'll have come to expect by now, you're in for a real treat! So crank it up, get psyched, and lock off until you black out, with DJ Galup for the Decomposed Radio 2nd Anniversary show........
As promised, Decomposed Radio show #046 features some Antipodean DJ talent that we discovered whilst we were away over the last few months, in the form of "Wex & Gerg" a husband and wife DJ duo from Melbourne, Australia.
They describe themselves as "dorks" who can't seem to stop buying records....ever, and as such their collection is a very broad representation of their varied interests in all music.
Due to this, when they get together behind the decks, their DJ sets span from jazz, to house, and everything in between, and they can usually be found playing in some of the coolest basement bars in Melbourne, which is exactly where we bumped into them and enjoyed a great night of their tunes.
So sit back......relax, and enjoy this sublime mix of mellow electronica and solid beats from Wex & Gerg, on Decomposed Radio show #046.................
Welcome to Decomposed Radio Show 045, broadcasting from back here in Sheffield, UK! First up, apologies for being off air for a few weeks and not keeping up the fortnightly shows whilst away in Australia. Predictably it turned out to be a little tricky to get mixes and recordings together whilst based out of a tent in the outback! I'm happy to say though, that we're back on it now, and have some great plans, including some quality Antipodean talent that we discovered in Melbourne, and a mix of the amazing music from the iconic climbing film "Hard Grit."
Today's show is inspired by one of the labels that we re-stumbled across whilst researching and collecting the music from Hard Grit, the equally iconic "Platipus Records".
Platipus Records was the brainchild of artist and producer Simon Berry, and was a super popular and successful trance label throughout the 90's and well into the naughties.
The release "Platipus Archives Volume Three and Four" includes the track "Chrome" by Chromium, which Slackjaw film used to great effect in the bouldering segment of Hard Grit. Show 045 is a departure from the usual house and techno fayre on Decomposed Radio, and features some great trance tracks, all from that release.
The climbers amongst you will no doubt recognise the iconic track, as well as some serious anthems........
Welcome to another Antipodean Decomposed Radio show! We'd be lying if we said that running a house and techno podcast from a tent, out in the bush in the middle of nowhere isn't a challenge, but we're psyched to continue bringing you quality mixes, so this time up we have Decomposed Radio big boss Gus Hudgins in the mix, recorded live back in february 2018 at the always incredible "Plot 22" venue run by Rite Traxx in Sheffield.
It was an ace, really memorable night with a really up for it, relatively young crowd. The set features some pretty old skool fast and funky techno, with some really classic, meaningful tunes thrown in which really seemed to be appreciated by those present on the night, so we hope you enjoy it just as much, or get a kick out of reliving the evening if you were lucky enough to be there. The next Decomposed radio will be incoming at the start of May, by which time we'll be back in the UK, and have got some great artists lined up, both new and fresh DJ's as well as some firm Decomposed Radio favourites.
So keep your eyes and ears peeled for that, in the meantime get amongst this feisty, funky old skool techno mix from GusN8r......
Welcome to the first antipodean Decomposed Radio show, coming at you all the way from Natimuk, Australia!
Today's show is a live recording from a wicked night at the always waddage Plot 22 back at the start of February, featuring a back 2 back set from Matt Arnold and Shaun Humphreys. The lads did a great job of setting up a great vibe early on with this mix, and ensured that the entire night went on to be be an absolute cracker! We've still got a couple of sets from the night that we'll feature on future shows, but in the meantime, kick back with this great mix of deep, tech house from Matt Arnold and Shaun Humphreys, recorded live at Plot 22 in Sheffield......
It's time for another Decomposed Radio show, and for show #042 we've reeled in some more talent from the seemingly never ending North Wales techno scene.
This time up we have James Williams, otherwise known as "Gaenz" who is becoming a regular feature and familiar face behind the decks at some seriously classy underground parties over that way.
He's put together a storming mix of driving, building techno, and wastes no time in getting right down to it, so you're definitely in for a good old pummelling this week!
Definitely head over to Gaenz's Mixcloud page for more music. The "drums in the deep" mix on there is particularly solid, and if you'd like to see and hear him play in person, he'll be on techno dispensing detail at the always awesome and infamous "Indy Party" over in North Wales in March.
For the next couple of months, Decomposed Radio will be decamping to Australia, and basically living out of a tent, but we've got plans in place to keep the mixes coming at you thick and fast, including a couple of live recordings from an amazing night at "Plot 22" the other weeks, so stay tuned. It's not going off....it's gone off.....
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio! After an incredible night at Plot 22 last Friday, it's time to get back in the mix with a Decomposed Radio favourite in the form of "Malx," also sometimes known by his 90's alter ego, 'DJ Helmut."
Malx's mix all the way back on show number 07 is still one of the most popular around, having had over one thousand downloads and listens, so it was a complete no brainer to get him back on! As expected, he's provided a sublime mix of eclectic music, mixed together in his own unique, inimitable style. There's even a few DJ Helmut style 90's classics thrown in there, which we're more than happy with!
So crank it up and get psyched for Malx, back by popular demand on Decomposed Radio.......
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio! As promised, show number 040 features another live recording from the now infamous and amazing "Works afterparty" back in December, this time from Decomposed Radio Big Boss Gus Hudgins.
As has become a bit of a tradition now, the opening set at the afterparty always features some old skool, and fairly random records, mixed my GusN8r whilst in a bit of a daze following the main part of the evening. As such the the mix includes some seriously classic old rave anthems, together with some more up to date records, and some quality techno. The audience as always was the best there is, and it was great to see so many friendly faces appreciating the music and vibes!
So we hope you enjoy the result of all these factors coming together. Turn up the volume for Gus Hudgins, live in the mix between 6.30am and 8am on the 9th December 2017, at the amazing "Works Afterparty".........
