  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #029: GUS HUDGINS LIVE FROM THE FREEBORN MAN TENT

First up, apologies for missing a week, there's been a few (sesh) gremlins in the system but we're back on it now in full effect!

Decomposed Radio show 29 is a live recording from an outrageous event up in the Lake District, a very special celebratory festival that featured 3 days of non stop music, a psy trance tent, funk tent, chill out tent, and of course the amazing Freeborn Man Techno Tent, where this set was recorded.

Congratulations to Becky & Shaun for organising an incredible scene, and to everyone who chipped in to make it happen, it really was outstanding with some great moments and memories!

It all got pretty wild at times, so as such the audio recording's a bit ruff and reddy, and the music's pretty fast and furious, but that definitely seemed to fit the scene at the time, so we hope you enjoy it and get a feel for the unique vibe that occurred.

So crank it up for an hour or so of Gus Hudgins in the Freeborn Man techno tent a few weekends ago.........

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #028: DANIEL METZGER

Welcome to a truly international Decomposed Radio show number 28, this time coming at ya' all the way from Karlsruhe, in Southern Germany, and featuring Daniel Metzger, who I was lucky enough to meet recently at the amazing "Awakenings" festival in Amsterdam.

Daniel describes DJing as "his religion" and is a regular face behind the decks on the Karlsruhe techno scene, as well as many other events throughout Germany.

Metzger's definition of techno that he plays in his sets always features floating beats, emotive melodies, and baselines that you really feel in your gut, and the mix that he's provided for the show definitely has all this, and plenty more!

Make sure you check out Daniel Metzger on both Soundcloud and Facebook (metzger.techno) for details of his music, more mixes, and events that he plays at and runs, but in the meantime, get your listening gear round the incredible mix that he's done for Decomposed Radio #028....

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #027: CELLAR DWELLER

Here at Decomposed Radio we're still recovering from both the 1st anniversary show, and the outrageous Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam this weekend just gone. Show #027 features one of the original founders of the always on point "Sheffield Techno Institute" the multi talented "Cellar Dweller" also know to us as Ben Dorey.

Ben's musical skills really do know no bounds. He's one of the three members of the amazing live hardware techno act "Broken FM" that we featured on show 15, which had a great response from Decomposed listeners, as well as being a very accomplished DJ, producer and promoter. He's even been known to play in a folk band!

For episode 27, he's dug out some ace leftfield records for us, and mixed them together to create a wicked ambient techno vibe perfect for mid summer scenes.

Make sure you check out his soundcloud page for some great tracks and mixes, and if you've not done it already, give "Sheffield Techno Institute" a follow on Facebook for details of some of the amazing nights that they organise, as well as more great music.

In the meantime, turn it up, kick back, and enjoy this superb sonic journey from Sheffield's Cellar Dweller......

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #026: DJ GALUP (Sam Whittaker) 1st Anniversary show

Happy Birthday to Decomposed Radio!! It's hard to believe that a year has passed already, since we started up a show and podcast with the aim of sharing some of the unique DJ talent that we're lucky enough to be surrounded by.

Thanks to everyone who has listened, contributed to and supported us over the last 12 months. So far we've featured twenty six superb and varied mixes from some super talented DJ's across the UK and beyond, and we're not stopping now! For our anniversary show, we're rewinding back to where it all began! After the huge success of show #01 there was only one DJ that we could have asked to provide a mix for show #026, the one and only "DJ Galup" aka Sam Whittaker. Sam's mix from a year ago has had around 3,000 downloads across the different platforms on which we put the show out, so as such he's clearly a firm Decomposed Radio favourite! A super adept DJ and climber, over the last 10 years he's also the man behind the outrageous "Climbing Works" parties, which never fail to be an incredible annual night of house and techno here in Sheffield, so he's got a lot to answer for! After the outstanding mix that he put together for our very first show, it was hard to see how he could raise the bar, that said, we're very happy to say that he might just have outdone himself with the hour and a half of music that he's mixed together for us for show 26! Thanks again to everyone who's supported us over the last 12 months, please keep sharing the Decomposed Radio love to anyone you might think might like what we do, and here's to another year of house and techno from Decomposed Radio: It's not going off......it's gone off......

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #015: GusN8r AT "disMaying" SHEFFIELD

Welcome to another Decomposed Radio show! Here in Sheffield, we're still reeling and recovering from an incredible night of house and techno last weekend; "disMaying" down at The Night Kitchen in Sheffield.

This, now annual party is developing a solid reputation as one of the best underground parties around. Maybe we're biased, but we reckon it was one of the best nights of music we've ever heard, with some outstanding sets from some very talented DJ's.

Decomposed Radio's Gus Hudgins was lucky enough to have a cheeky hour long set, sandwiched in between some amazing DJ's and music, so this set of fast and funky techno is what we have here on the show for you today.

Massive shout out to everyone and anyone who contributed to making the night happen, not least the mysterious "Freeborn Man" and big up to everyone who came and danced their socks off until the (very) early hours. So crank up the volume, and sign yourself up to a little slice of the incredible "disMaying" in Sheffield last weekend.....

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #024: BECKET

Welcome to Decomposed Radio show number 24! As with the last show, we're venturing out of Sheffield and are again heading over to North Wales, where there is a veritable hotbed of techno talent emerging. Foremost amongst these is DJ and producer 'Becket" who recently wowed us with an impressive impromptu set of tough, deep techno, during a cheeky extra late hour during an already very wild party at the amazing Hendre Hall.

Since then we just knew we had to get this guy on Decomposed Radio, and he's very kindly steeped up to provide us with an absolutely storming mix for the show!

Music wise, he's into anything deep, dark and industrial, and isn't scared to break out the vinyl, which is really cool!

He's a regular at "Club dB" and the aforementioned "Hendre Hall" over in North Wales, and will also be playing at the Gottwood Festival, over in Anglesey this year.

On top of all this, he's also establishing himself as a pretty handy techno producer, so make sure you check out his music on soundcloud.com/ben-becket

So what are you waiting for? Get stuck in to this wicked hour of deep, dark techno, from North Wales's Becket.

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #023: STEVE WORTH

Welcome to another Decomposed Radio show!

For episode 23 we have a live recording from a very wild night at one of our favourite venues in North Wales, "Hendre Hall" featuring talented local DJ Steve Worth.

Steve's sets have long been the main event at legendary parties such as Rhoscolyn, and plenty more underground nights around North Wales at venues such as the infamous "Fricsan."

They're definitely not scared of going big and partying hard in North Wales, and this night at Hendre Hall, for the always on point "Indy Party" was no exception, and included bongos, neon hula hoops, and even a cheeky extra hour extension of tough techno into the early hours, just how we like it!

So crank it up, and get psyched for the full North Wales scene experience, with this awesome mix of tech house and techno from Steve Worth.

  • DECOMPOSED RADIO PODCAST #022: THE SOUND DIGGERS

Happy Easter holidays from Decomposed Radio! For show number 22 we're changing up the genres yet again, with a very special guest in the shape of "The Sound Diggers." Hailing from the dizzy heights of Leek, in Staffordshire, he's also known as Justin Critchlow, a name that should be familiar to some of the rock climbers amongst you, as he's a bit of a wizard on the Staffordshire gritstone.

As a DJ and producer, Justin has some seriously silky skills, and out of all of the guest we've featured so far on the show, on the quiet he's probably the most accomplished, with a string of huge releases on major house labels, and worldwide DJ tours that have taken him from Antwerp to Amsterdam, Canada to Croatia with everywhere in between.

Genre wise, he likes to keep it upbeat and groovy, so wherever you're heading to this easter weekend, get this on the radio for your journey, and enjoy this superb mix of funky, deep club house, from The Sound Diggers.

For Decomposed Radio show number 21 we're firmly back on the techno trip with an incredible mix from "Blanca."

A resident of Sheffield for quite a while, Blanca now lives in the US, where he's working on the launch of his own vinyl imprint (watch this space!!) After growing up within the UK Garage and Drum & Bass scenes of the North, after landing in Sheffield, it wasn't long before he was exposed to the Techno scene here, and it began to shape his sound into what it is today, featuring different tempos and experimental sounds, combined with all of his original influences.

The outstanding sonic journey that he's provided for show 21 features a wicked blend of tracks from across the techno spectrum, both recent and past, and also includes several unreleased tracks from Blanca himself, all of which build into a solid crescendo of deep, heads down techno!
