It's time for Decomposed Radio Show #019, this time up we're making a welcome return to solid, no-nonsense techno vibes with a killer mix from Sheffield based Michaela Tracy.
As with several of the DJ's featured on the show, Michaela is a super strong, accomplished climber. Not only is she a force to be reckoned with on the international World Cup bouldering circuit, she's been crowned British Bouldering Champion, and more recently crushed the competition at the Bloco Masters in Poland. All this means that we know her affectionately as "The Champ" which is well deserved! As a DJ, The Champ has some seriously solid skills, and an impeccable taste in tough, forward thinking, challenging techno, so you techno heads are in for a real treat this time round!
So settle in, and standby to get fully in the zone, with this twisted techno journey, from Michaela Tracy....
We're a little late putting out show number 18, so to make up for it, we have an extra special double whammy of groovy house and techno for you, featuring the last of our live recordings from the infamous "Works party" in December 2016. This time up we're lucky enough to have two sets, back to back as they happened on the night, from two exceptional DJ's that always do an incredible job of getting the party from a standstill to full speed in no time whatsoever: "HAAAYZ" and "HORSE"
Otherwise know as Chloe Hay, and Simon Wilson, these two have become a real pillar of this annual party that we couldn't do without. Their individual styles are always really well received by the crowd, with HAAAYZ guaranteed to dish out some varied beats that speak to her roots in Bass music and DnB, whilst always keeping a solid four to the floor vibe, and HORSE always offering some groovy and uplifting house, tech house and classic techno. So turn the volume up double loud for this double header from Decomposed Radio Show #018 featuring a live recording of sets from HAAAYZ and HORSE, at CODE Warehouse, Sheffield, in late 2016!
For show number 17 we have another mix recorded live from CODE warehouse in Sheffield last December. This time featuring a set from GusN8r that was between 1.30am and 3am on the night, sandwiched between DJ Galup and Mark Broom. The atmosphere was incredible, the dancefloor was packed and it was great to see so many friendly faces, old and new in the crowd. We're really psyched that we managed to record the whole evening, as it's great to revisit the night and some amazing memories. The only regret is that we didn't record the sets at the after party, which were pretty outstanding! We still have sets from both Horse and HAAAYZ from the night, we checked them out whilst putting this show together and they're both cracking mixes, so we'll definitely also features those on the show at some point in the future! In the meantime, crank it up, and enjoy 90 minutes of dark, touch and trippy techno from GusN8r.
Welcome to an extra special show number 16 of Decomposed Radio, featuring another set recorded live on 9th December 2016 at CODE Sheffield, this time featuring one of the most legit guys in techno today, none other than Mark Broom.
Always on point, Mark has an outrageous number of quality techno releases to his name, one pretty much every quality techno imprint around, even including "M-Plant!" with an approved remix for Robert Hood!
His DJ sets feature a legendary blend of tough, funky, and classic techno, always combined with his amazing remixes of disco and house classics, with some serious "moments" throughout!
We were lucky enough to have him headline at the amazing "Climbing Works" party, at the end of last year, and even luckier to record the mix, which Mark has kindly let us present to you, the hour featured on Decomposed Radio this time up is the second hour from his 2 hour set, between 3am and 5am, when things seriously ramped up and went off.
So without wasting any more time, check out Decomposed Radio #016 with an outstanding hour of classy techno, from Mark Broom.
Happy Christmas from Decomposed Radio! This time up we've got a really special hour of music from Broken FM! Based in Sheffield, Broken FM is a live hardware techno group, comprised of Sam Walby, Jack Opus, and Ben Dorey, one of the head ministers at Sheffield Techno Institute (STI) Using gear where nothing can be recreated twice, each set is a unique improvisation, which is a really cool ethos, and presumably a shed load of fun when you have it as wired as these boys have! They've gotten around a fair bit in 2016, supporting other live acts such as Orphx, and Blood Sport, and there's plenty more to come from these guys in 2017, definitely ones to watch! They went into the studio to record this set for Decomposed Radio with no plan other than to jam and have some fun, and the results are nothing short of complete waddage! So settle in, turn it up, and enjoy the dreamy synths and hypnotic beats of Sheffield's own Broken FM!
Welcome to another Decomposed Radio show. First up a massive big up to everyone who came out and danced all night at CODE Sheffield for the infamous annual "Climbing Works" Party. It was an absolutely amazing yet, with incredible sets from all the DJ's on the lineup, including an absolute smasher from the main man Mark Broom! We're really happy to say that we managed to record the whole night, so over the next couple of months we'll be featuring sets from all the DJ's who helped blow the roof off on the night! First up from the selection, and by popular request, sees the return to Decomposed Radio of "DJ GALUP" or Sam Whittaker as he's also known. Galup featured on the very first Decomposed Radio show, and his mix has had over 1500 downloads and plays, the most popular by quite a way. Sam played two sets on Friday 9th december at Code, however we've chosen to feature the set he played between 5am and 6am. Despite following an absolutely storming set by Mark Broom, he still managed to raise the bar, and the roof, and provide a superb conclusion to the night before we switched venues and commenced even more fun at the after party! So buckle up, and all hail the return of DJ Galup!
Welcome back to Decomposed Radio! After mixing up the genres a little bit for the last two shows, we're making a welcome return to solid, heads down techno for show number 13! The man for the job this time is none other than the infamous "DJ DECENT," otherwise know as Nathan Lee. Conforming to the universal, 20+ year old rule that good rock climbers make outstanding techno selectors, DJ Decent is definitely no slouch on the crags. However, he's more recently come to our attention at Decomposed Radio as a super handy DJ with a great taste in tough, deep techno!
Quite a few of the Decomposed Radio DJ's have been lucky enough to play alongside him at a handful of really cool nights and events throughout 2016, and as such we've been looking to get him on the show for quite a while.
He's provided us with an impeccable blend of bang up to date techno, and there are some seriously epic "moments" throughout this great mix.
So for all you technoheads out there, strap yourselves in, and get a load of DJ DECENT!
Hi and Welcome to Decomposed Radio show #012! After an amazing genre smashing mix from the HAAAYZ on the last show, we've been inspired to think outside the box a little bit and provide you with something slightly different this week! Today's show features Decomposed Radio grand fromage GusN8r rewinding back to the 90's and digging through his record boxes to provide an old skool mix of classic house, techno and rave tracks!
Featuring some outstanding and super classic cuts from the likes of Kevin Saunderson, The Chemical Brothers, Infamous Player, and CJ Bolland, as well as some solid records from the outstanding XL Recordings and artists like The Prodigy and SL2, this mix should hopefully minimise any chances of behaving, and maximise chances of raving this weekend! So dust off the nuclear boiler suits and the gas masks, and get your running dance on to this serious dose of rave euphoria from back in the day. Push on!!
Show number 11 comes straight from Sheffield, and features a stunning and unique mix from the super talented HAAAYZ.
Also known as Chloe to us here at Decomposed Radio, HAAAYZ loves a bit of house and techno, just like us, however her real love lies with Drum and Bass music, as well as the surrounding genres.
Somehow she's managed to put together a mix for us that, although sticks solidly to a four to the floor format, still showcases all these influences! We think it's amazing, and we reckon you're in for a real treat! So turn it up LOUD! and check out this genre smashing mix from the HAAAYZ!
Greetings from Bulgaria!!
Show number 10 features one of the original Sheffield climbing and techno overlords; Mike Annesley, also known to some of you as "Bubba."
Mike was a key player on the scene in the 90's and is responsible for providing a serious techno soundtrack to some outrageous parties at a few very special venues that we can't really mention on here, where you're just as likely to be busting out hard moves as dance moves!! He's also responsible for creating one of the most entertaining climbing websites and forums around, ukbouldering.com.
Luckily for us he's having a bit of a musical comeback, and has sent us an incredible set of flawlessly blended proper techno, with a great mix of old school and bang up to date tracks.
So crank up the volume, and enjoy some seriously classy techno from Mike Annesley.
