Show number 009 is here! This time we have a mix of deep, tough and varied techno for your aural pleasure, from none other than "CBR" aka Chris Barr. CBR has really carved out a niche for himself at parties and afterparties in Sheffield and around the UK, with his specific blend of hard, melodic, uplifting, and always well judged techno. He's our go-to cat for a guaranteed high quality set at the infamous "Climbing Works" after party in Sheffield in December, and can always be relied upon to deliver the goods! So turn it up, get psyched, and get involved in a bit of CBR!
This week's mix comes from Manchester based DJ and producer Curtis Jay, who's been firmly on the radar in Northern cities such as Sheffield and Liverpool for several years now. He also runs a really cool night in his home town of Manchester, called "Love Array" which focuses on Disco and House vibes. Curtis Jay is also a really handy and prolific producer, so make sure you check him, and his tracks such as "Masai" and "Nouveaux" out on Soundcloud at: soundcloud.com/curtisjayuk The mix he's provided is an eclectic, all vinyl mix of deep house and industrial sounding techno, featuring crunched up scatty drum rhythms and blissed out synth works. It's a real journey with moody, euphoric and also tougher moments later on in the set. So crank up the volume, and check out Curtis Jay in the mix for Decomposed Radio.......
This time up on the show we have really cool mix provided by Malcolm Scott, or "Malx" as he's also known. We're lucky enough to have witnessed Malx play sets at parties all over the UK, from Dorset to the Lakes, including an amazing set which pretty much blew the roof off The Harley in Sheffield a while back! Malc has a really wide knowledge of music, especially techno, and appreciates not only the tough, banging stuff, but also the more melodic, trippy side of techno that makes for some super memorable, euphoric moments at nights later on. As such he's a bit of a master of the after party set, or closing out the night, and lucky for us the set that he's sent us has a mix of all of that in there. So get yourselves warmed up fully, and tune into this amazing musical journey from Malx.
To celebrate the incoming annual weekend of climbing, celebration, and house and techno music in a very atmospheric venue down in Dorset, this week we have a a very special second, bonus show!
Featuring a mix generously sent to us from the secretive and elusive "Freeborn Man," to get everyone psyched for the weekend during their long drive South! See you all at Connor Cove on Saturday. Enjoy!
This week we have not one, but two mixes for your listening pleasure, to celebrate a very special weekend of house, techno and climbing down in Dorset! First up we have the Decomposed Radio big boss, "GusN8r" stepping up to the plate. Starting out with some dark, groovy techno and tech house, and building up to some seriously tough, full gauge, trippy techno, this is an example of the type of set you'd expect to hear at nights such as Sheffield Techno Institute and the annual "Works" party in Sheffield in December.
Featuring favourite tracks from artists such as Arnaud le Texier, Robert Hood, and Dimi Angelis, and labels such as "Minus", "DEMENT3D Records" and also Swedish vinyl on label "Random Island."
If that's not enough, tomorrow (Friday) we'll also be releasing an extra bonus mix with some more summery vibes from the mysterious "Freeborn Man" to get everyone heading down South for the weekend in the mood, stay tuned for more details.......
Show number 5 features an amazing varied mix from Sophie Keltie, also know as "Delegate" due to her faultless organisation skills.
Sophie is a regular feature on the lineup at nights that we run in Sheffield, and also some very special underground parties down in the South West.
She always brings a unique musical taste and track selection to her mixes, giving some welcome variety to the sometimes heavy Sheffield techno lineups, and manages to blend some amazing, uplifting deep tech house with some harder tunes.
So kick back, or get up and go mental, with an outstanding hour of music from Sophie.
Today's mix comes from the mysterious and elusive "Freeborn Man." Not much is known about this anonymous character, but one thing we do know is that he has an impeccable taste in tough, uncompromising techno!
Some say he lives in a cave in Dorset, eats constantly and only emerges a few times per year, particularly around the late August bank holiday when the sea is warm and the tide is high.
He takes his name from the iconic rock climb at Fisherman's Ledge, Swanage, and some believe him to be the embodied spirit of the route. One thing's for sure, he has a talent for producing heavy, slow burning and hypnotic techno mixes, and the one he's sent us is no exception! So get your heads down, and get fired up for this solid mix of raw techno from the mysterious "Freeborn Man."
This week's mix features the one and only "Horse", otherwise known as local DJ and climber Simon Wilson, who can often be found playing at nights and parties between Sheffield and the South West. Horse is always our go to geezer to step things up after midnight at the infamous "Climbing Works" parties in December in Sheffield. He always delivers an outstanding set that kicks things off and sets the tone for the rest of the evening/ morning ahead! He brings a unique track selection and style to every mix and set we've ever seen him play, and the mix he's done for us as Decomposed Radio is no exception, so saddle up and strap yourselves in for an hour and ten minutes of prime Equine beats!
Show number two is here! And we're very happy to have Sheffield based DJ and producer Stacie-Anne Churchman in the mix for us!
Stacie-Anne's sound centres around tough and deep leaning techno, and we're super psyched that she's pulled no punches in this mix, so expect some serious heads down techno! If training to music is your thing, expect some serious PB's incoming! Check out her track "Paddling Pool" on Left Wing Recordings for more of an idea of her music, or her soundcloud page at:
soundcloud.com/stacieannechurchman
Enjoy the mix and feel free to let us know what you think on iTunes or Facebook! Smash it in! Gus
For our very first episode we're honoured to have the man with the biggest biceps in both climbing and techno, Mr. Sam Whittaker, aka DJ Galup. Sam's been on the techno scene for many years and is the main man behind the legendary "Climbing Works Party" in Sheffield, an unforgettable and infamous annual night/ weekend of house, techno and awesomeness.
We also have DJ Galup to thank for the inspiration for "Decomposed Radio," which is named after another outstanding night of techno in Sheffield that Sam and Harry "Dizzy9" Pennells ran back in the day.
He's as handy behind the decks as he is on small crimps and powerful undercut moves, so what better way to start the proceedings at Decomposed Radio! As the man himself would say:
"Go big, or go home...."
If you enjoy listening to this half as much as we did recording it, we're onto a winner!!
