  • Word of the Buddha (Part 3) | Ajahn Brahm | 26 February 2023
Ajahn Brahm is taking a classic text compiled by the Venerable Nyanatiloka titled the “Word of the Buddha” which provides a staged summary of the Buddha Dhamma. But Ajahn Brahm is heavily revising the text to bring it up to date with contemporary English language usage.
Ajahn translates the pali sentence by sentence instead of word for word to make it powerful and accessible for us to understand. A link to the translation can be accessed here.

  • SN12.70 Susimaparibbājaka Sutta - The Wanderer Susima | Ajahn Brahm | 08 July 2018
Ajahn Brahm discusses sutta 12.70 from the Samyutta Nikaya, the collection of linked discourses: Susimaparibbājaka Sutta - The Wanderer Susima. "The wanderer Susı̄ma fraudulently enters the Sangha so that the wanderers can learn the secret to the Buddha’s fame and success. Hearing that some mendicants claimed to be perfected, Susīma approaches and asks them if they have developed psychic powers or the formless states, to which they say no. Perplexed, he asks the Buddha, who explains that awakening follows insight into the principles of impermanence and causality. Eventually Susı̄ma confesses his misdeed.", Sutta Central.
