  • His money & Her Money

    Engaged gang

Wedding update—so far we have literally been under our planned spending in every category and it’s been fun AF.

Today we are going to be talking about a mindset shift:

    Your money & his money.

Right now, if you’re not married—there’s yours and there is his.

But When you’re signing up for marriage, you are signing up to combining your lives—finances and all.

So often, I get asked about couples finances, which is why I created Wealthier Together.

But here are 5 questions you NEED to ask yourself about finances before marriage:

    1. Am I fully confident that we are on the same page with money?
    2. Do I fully trust my partner to have our best interest in mind with our finances?
    3. Do I clearly understand our financial plan and have complete confidence in following it?
    4. Is our communication around money open and fun?
    5. Am I all in for combining finances with my partner?
    6. Do I understand that going all in for the marriage means having the same bank account?
    7. What are the steps we need to take if we answered “no” to any or all of these questions?

    Wealthier together

    1. You aren’t ALL in for the marriage.
    2. You aren’t on the same page with money.
    3. You don’t trust your partner with “your” money or your partner doesn’t trust you with “his” money.

THATS IT. Period. Those are the only three reasons that you’re not conjoining finances.

  • Living Together: Financial Burden or Blessing?

    Super upfront about everything.

Do not live with someone you don’t feel comfortable talking about money with.

    1. Know costs of everything before moving in together. Both people have to be cool with it. Decide on splitting.
    2. BOTH names on everything
    3. I pay bills. He pays me 3 days before they’re due.
    4. Budget for things we split. (Groceries)
    5. Talk about any big purchase ahead of time. (Honestly we bought things desperately ahead of time).
    6. Buy our own stuff separately.
    7. Have a card that we put all of our entertainment, gas, dinner, etc on and then split that at the end of the month.
    8. Open with our own personal finances
    9. Separate finances, same goals
    10. “Owe” each other as little as possible
    11. Money dates

  • I am Going to Be a Millionaire at 27

BLACK FRIDAY 50% OFF SALE:  http://deeperthanmoney.mykajabi.com/black-friday-sale?cid=bcf4fb16-079f-48b5-81ea-0dcafdc3059e

The reasons I don't tell people my goals:
    1. If I don't hit them, I'll be embarrassed.
    2. I don't want to make other people feel uncomfortable.

But I came face to face with this truth: It's my job to make other people uncomfortable.

    Especially surrounding money.

Because comfortable people don't wake up and change their fucking lives.

If I trigger you...ask yourself why. We get triggered when someone else doesn't fit into the box we want them to.

Are there times when that's okay? Yes, if someone is mean to you or something. But ask yourself WHY am I being triggered if it's not something that goes against your moral code.

Why are you all worked up that me (your friend on the interwebs) is calling out her big ass goal that she is going to be a millionaire? Why are you so pissed about this? I want you to learn two things from this episode:

    1) identify what triggers you and ask yourself WHY (is it bc someone else is doing something that you aren't?)
    2) how are you not showing up fully or claiming YOUR big ass goal, because you want other people to feel comfortable.
