Toll House, the cookie giant beloved for its classic chocolate chip treats, just dropped a brand new cookie dough in stores — and didn't tell a soul. Every year, the company launches its Cookie of the Year, a dough so fantastic, the packaging is printed with confetti and a giant red banner that reads: COOKIE OF THE YEAR. This year's flavor is Ice Cream Sundae, and it sounds amazing.

Today, Krispy Kreme is celebrating 81 years of delightfully perfect glazed donuts. While it's not quite as huge a deal as last year's big 80th, the donut shop is still honoring the occasion with a pretty sweet promotion: a dozen glazed donuts for $1. The donut shop got Shaquille O'Neal to announce the deal on Facebook. While the combo might sound random, Shaq is actually a longtime donut fan — so much so that he bought a Krispy Kreme shop in downtown Atlanta back in 2016.

There's been a lot of panic over salmonella lately given an influx of outbreaks across the country. Salmonella is a kind of bacteria that can lead to food poisoning. Though many people are ultimately fine and sometimes don't require treatment, it has proven deadly for younger and older people, as well as those with chronic illnesses. Warm weather is salmonella's favorite time to grow and flourish.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced that a Salmonella outbreak tied to raw turkey meat has infected 90 people across 26 states since the end of November. So far, 40 of the reported cases have been hospitalized. The outbreak hasn't been traced to one particular brand or product, but the strain has been identified in samples from raw turkey products (ground turkey, turkey pieces, and whole turkey), raw turkey pet food, and live turkeys.

After 20 years, a Chick-fil-A tradition is coming to an end. The fast-food chain announced this week that it will stop producing its beloved cow calendars. Each page of the monthly calendar has featured Chick-fil-A’s signature cows, sometimes in fun costumes or performing silly activities. The calendars also include a card with coupons for free food from the restaurant each month, and local communities could sell the calendars for fundraising campaigns.

Lay's has a history of releasing out-there potato chip flavors, like Crispy Taco and Southern Gravy & Biscuits, as part of their Do Us a Flavor contest. Now the company is upping the ante with Lay’s Tastes Of America. The chip line, which has eight different flavors, is inspired by regional specialties from across the United States. And according to an announcement from Lay's, this is the largest number of new flavors the brand has ever introduced at once.
