    Representasi politik merupakan salah satu aspek fundamental dalam sebuah demokrasi. Bahkan dapat dikatakan bahwa suatu kedewasaan demokrasi dapat diukur melalui tingkat representasi yang dimilikinya, dimana hal tersebut tidak hanya menjamin posisi dan suara masyarakat di sektor politik serta menghambat adanya monopoli kekuasaan oleh kelompok elit, tetapi juga merupakan sebuah proses otorisasi dan akuntabilitas pemerintah terhadap konstituennya pula. Dengan tujuan untuk memberikan wawasan lebih mendalam mengenai kondisi representasi politik dan signifikansinya kepada keberlangsungan demokrasi, maka siniar ini telah menghadirkan Ameral Rizkovic, Felicia Amanda Putri, Fadhil Maulana, Nurul Qomariyah A dan Muhamad Sihab Fauzi, sebagai ahli dari negara-negara demokratis (Guyana, Portugal, Kanada) dan non demokratis (Jordan, Irak dan Arab Saudi) untuk menceritakan realita dari representasi politik masing-masing.     Perkembangan dan dorongan untuk mewujudkan pemerintahan yang lebih sensitif gender telah menjadi salah satu persyaratan dan/atau standar demokrasi suatu negara. Oleh karena itu, episode Demos’ Delights kali ini akan membahas mengenai signifikansi representasi gender dalam politik dan demokrasi, berbagai UU representasi gender di berbagai negara, kesuksesannya dan tantangannya masing-masing. Selain itu, akan didiskusikan pula mengenai efektivitas kebijakan gender mainstreaming yang cenderung digunakan oleh negara-negara, yaitu pemberian kuota gender. It is one of the indicators that a country is trying to accommodate the public’s demands, including those from the minority groups. In this episode of Demos' Delights, the podcast will talk about the current representation condition in 6 countries; Slovenia, India, Costa Rica, Belgium, Switzerland, and Ghana which will be explained by country experts, Genesia Lemuel Ginting, Damaris Tama and Yosephine Elizabeth Dame. Some of the topics covered are personal characteristics of each countries’ representation system and the challenges that are still faced by respective countries. The podcast also touches on the subject of who should be represented in a government and why does representation matter in a democracy.   • Episode 6 - Democracy on Edge: Indonesia Policing Experience

    After discussing about the human rights condition in various countries, it's time to look closer to our own country, Indonesia. Following two nationwide civil demonstrations in September 2019 concerning Reformasi Dikorupsi and October 2020 about the recent passing of the controversial Omnibus Law, police brutality has been constantly growing rampant, especially in the last two years in Indonesia. Multiple instances of violence had been simply swept under the rug and this stood in contrast to the proper duty of a police, which includes using force only within the accepted boundary and to be held accountable for their misbehaviors. The speakers of this episode of Demos' Delights - Alfredo Putrawidjoyo, Caesar Leonardo, and Raihan Murtadho - will then discuss about Indonesia’s current police violence predicament through personal experiences and interesting discussion on the history of police violence in Indonesia, how policing should be conducted in a democratic manner, and the concept of civil supremacy.     Freedom of expression and political participations are two of the most important aspects of a healthy democracy. In this episode of Demos’ Delights, Aditya Wibowo, Rania Rizkiadinda, and M Farrel Arsenno will discuss the level of freedom of speech and civil liberties in three monarchy countries that have consistently ranked high in democracy index lists; Sweden, United Kingdom, and Japan.
