    Gloria Grace Rand:
Namaste. I am delighted to be with you for another edition of Live Love Engage, and I've got a awesome guest in on the show today who is a powerhouse woman, and I'm gonna tell you all about her in just a second. But first, I wanna welcome Marley Majcher to live love engage.
    Marley Majcher:
    Hello. Thank you.
    Gloria Grace Rand:
Yeah, I am delighted to have you here cuz I've, I've actually, and we haven't even had a chance to talk about this beforehand, but I, I've been aware of you for quite some time. I heard you speak many moons ago and at a, at a conference and so when I saw your name come up, I'm like, wait, I know her. I know her. And, and I think you've, you've, you're even more evolved than you were when I first met you. So let me tell you about Marley. So she is a party planning and entrepreneurial expert that people turn to for all things entertaining. So she is the CEO of the party goddess, which is a nationally acclaimed full service event planning and catering company where she's has entertained the likes of top tier businesses to a-list celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears. And then as if that isn't enough, she's also a top business coach in Los Angeles and an author of the book,
    Gloria Grace Rand:
"But are you making any money?" Yeah, that's, that's, that's a good one. Um, , I think a lot of people struggle with that sometimes entrepreneurs. Um, and so you are just this really all around amazing woman who is not only got one business when a lot of people have trouble just getting one business off the ground. You've got two going. So I would love to have you share with our listeners and viewers what got you to where you are today. How did you wind up being, you know, the c... the party goddess and the prophet goddess ?
    Marley Majcher:
Well, uh, yeah, so it would take about four hours, but I'm gonna make it as brief as I possibly can. So I went, I got my business degree from Georgetown and I, you know, everybody who kind of goes to Georgetown, like you think they're gonna end up like in venture capital or like they're working for Bear Stearns or something. And I just knew that was not my path and for one of my classes in business school, I had to do a talk, what I knew more about than anybody else. And at Georgetown there was nothing. I was like, mom, there's nothing I know more than these people. And so she was just like, why don't you do it on French cooking? You just came back from cooking school. So, uh, I was like, great, I had just come back from Paris. So I figured, okay, I'll do this.
    Marley Majcher:
And then I run into my professor right after the, this assignment got announced and I was like, oh my gosh, I'm so excited. I'm in your class and I'm doing it on French cooking and I'm interviewing the chef from 1789. Well, anybody who's familiar with Washington DC 1789 is this like very fancy restaurant. I did not have an interview with the chef. Never thought of having an interview with the chef and was like, what the frick have I done? And so she was so excited and I went home in tears to my roommates and I'm like, oh my gosh, now I've gotta get this, this fricking interview with this guy or girl I didn't even know. So my roommate's like, no worries, I used to work there, I'll get you the interview. I was like, I just don't wanna get kicked outta school. Like I just need to have, like, I have talked to him and put it on my deal and call it a day.
    Marley Majcher:
So anyway, she gets me this interview, I take one look at him, I decide I need to marry him. Um, literally, and here I'm doing this interview and like this, the bowels of this, you know, kind of like townhouse basically, which is how 1789 was set up. And I'm like the whole time thinking, how am I talking about multitasking with multiple businesses? It started early because the whole time I'm thinking, how am I gonna marry him and do this interview? So I'm doing the interview, but I'm also kind of like have my business brain on and I'm thinking to myself, wait, I noticed a couple things. He didn't speak Spanish fluently and I did or had I, maybe at that point I didn't, but I had add a lot of Spanish from school and I was taking Spanish in college. So I was like, okay.
    Marley Majcher:
Then the next thing I noticed, you know, there were no chicks and they had souffles on the menu and souffles are notoriously difficult for restaurants to have on the menu and turn out, you know, regularly and consistently. So I was like, okay, keep that in mind. So fast forward, I'm interviewing him and I'm like thinking this is kind of gonna be my pitch. And I was like, well, can I just come back or like, you know, shadow you again? And he's like, you know, like, how, what are, are you doing a dissertation or what's going on? So anyway, I convinced him to go back and then I just basically like was like, oh well maybe like I could work a shift or something. And he was kinda like, you know, not like, you're not really the type in here. Cause it was all men.
    Marley Majcher:
They, most of 'em were like from Honduras and El Salvador and like career kitchen people. And I was like, no, I really wanna do this. So I did that for, um, my whole junior year. And of course, you know, nothing happened. And then I would go on like full hair and makeup every day. Two third I would get outta school at 2:30 and then I'd go 3:30 to 11:30 3 days a week. And uh, my parents were like, your grades go down. Now my, my grades weren't that great to start with, but I made the dean's list like for the first time in my life I was like, I am not giving up my future husband. So then the whole summer before senior year I went to his cooking school in Normandy, plotted the whole summer how I was gonna ruin his life and quit. Cause of course I was his best employee.
    Marley Majcher:
I was picking up every shift and then he's asked me out and I was like, wait, what? And then we got engaged the month after graduation. Well when you marry a chef what do you do? You get into the restaurant business. So then it was like, okay, so we got into the restaurant business but here I am, I'm 21 years old and newly married. By now I'm married now it's 22. By the time I'm married I'm getting into the restaurant business and he's 20 years older than I am. And like, okay, we're back in Pasadena where I grew up. And so there started my new life in the food business I guess. I mean I was like, okay, well this is taking an interesting turn. And so basically he was in charge of obviously the food in the back of the house cause he was an amazing chef and I was in charge of the front of the house and I use those words loosely because I might have had the responsibility.
    Marley Majcher:
I'm not sure I was so great at it. But, so anyway, this goes on and you know, very early on we get a lot of publicity and it was like New York Super Chef is, you know, in town with this new restaurant, yada, yada. But what happened to me, which is what happens to a lot of entrepreneurs is that I could, I was, I certainly knew my numbers from business school, but I didn't know how to take what I learned in business school and the principles of like a P and L and then, and then how much of a delay there is getting your P and L from your accountant, like however many three months later to really understand your numbers and really like see, oh, if we have events, this is gonna be more profitable than if we don't like meaning within the restaurant. And so I just got caught up in this whole thing of like more sales, more sales, more sales and more publicity, more publicity, more publicity instead of focusing on what were my core numbers, what were my margins?
    Marley Majcher:
And which happens a lot. An independent restaurant, it certainly happens a lot with independent, you know, businesses. And so before long, um, you know, my, my goal is to do a million dollars in sales, we did that the first year. I was like, yes, now one problem is you can do a million dollars in sales, but if you're spending a million too, um, you should probably consider that maybe you haven't hit your goal. But I was like, oh no, that was my goal so I'm good. Um, but in reality I was just, everything looked amazing on the outside, you know, and this is in the days before social media. So can you imagine how I would've had it all tricked o

    Gloria Grace Rand:
Namaste. I am delighted to be with you again for another edition of Live Love, engage, and, uh, joining me on the show today is a lovely young woman who is gonna talk to us all about human design and her name is Bree Kuryk. So welcome to Live Love Engage Bree.
    Bree Kuryk:
Thank you so much. I'm so happy to be here.
    Gloria Grace Rand:
Well, I'm really excited about having you on because, uh, I, I know a little bit about human design from years ago, but I'm gonna let me share with our audience those of you who are listening and those watching on YouTube, uh, why I have put you on today. So she is a, uh, five one splenic projector, which she'll explain later. Um, podcaster certified human design and Gene Keys business coach, a certified online business manager and beach lover. Me too. Um, with over 15 years of marketing experience, distilling all of the online business best practices and trends into clearly articulated strategies, her clients of all sizes industries and Bree has realized her passion of examining the deeper purpose behind different tactics to help you find the most aligned way to build your business by tapping into your own intuition, which is something I absolutely recommend as well, cuz I think that's the best way for us to be able to, number one, just interact in life. But absolutely, it definitely helps us with our business. So I wanted to start off today in asking you what got you interested in human design and then maybe also explain a little bit about what that is as well for those who are listening and are like, uh, what is, what is that, what is she talking about?
    Bree Kuryk:
Totally, absolutely. So what got me down this path? So, you know, I have a very, I would say somewhat typical story of just growing up I was very much the rule follower where, you know, got good grades did all the things, like went to a good college, got a good, you know, went into marketing, you know, after, you know, kind of just followed a traditional career path and worked my way up the the ladder. And at one point I realized I had gotten what was the, the job of my dreams. That was literally a job that I, the exact company and the exact role I had had on my vision board five years earlier, like somehow manifested it. And when I, I had that realization and within and a couple months into that job, I was so miserable. I was coming home crying every day and just was like, really?
    Bree Kuryk:
I mean, it was very, very stressful. I was working in, um, like a digital marketing agency. So advertising is like a very stressful situation and it just wasn't what I was really passionate about. Um, and so I kind of, you know, like had that typical like, what am I doing? What, like if what I thought I wanted is absolutely not what I wanted, what do I actually want? Like had that thought process going on at the same time I've always been, I've, I'm just a student of life, like love learning things. I used to be known as like the trivia queen. My, some of my friends still call me. I'm someone who just loves to learn and loves to learn about a lot of things. So things like personality tests and things like that always captured my attention. Um, but I also always took 'em with a grain of salt.
    Bree Kuryk:
Like the ones where you're at answering questions about yourself, , I'm like, oh, I can game the system so I can get the answer that I want, but what I really love. So, you know, astrology kind of peaked my interest where I was like, oh, you can't game the system. It just tells you what you are, you know, essentially. And with that, I remember listening to a podcast, you know, on my way commuting to this job in Chicago and heard someone talking about human design. And I was like, oh, this is interesting. Um, and because, you know, it does, astrology is a big piece of it and, you know, just hearing them descri, hearing this person describe what it was and what it does, all of this stuff. And I just kind of had this intuitive hit, which, you know, I know I'll explain this in a second, but that was my splenic authority saying like, ding ding, like this, you know, this is you.
    Bree Kuryk:
I was like, I knew that I was a projector before I even looked up my own chart. And I felt just very, it was very interesting. I just felt seen, I felt very known. And then of course, being the student of life that I am, I went to Google and like looked up a bunch of stuff and that just kickstarted my whole journey with things. And I, um, you know, for a very long time was kind of just studying human design on my own and kind of like being the thing, beautiful thing about human design, which I'll get more into in a second. But it's, it's also called the science of differentiation. And so the whole purpose of it is to approach things like it gives you guidance, but ultimately you approach things as an experiment and like, well, okay, this is interesting, does this work for me?
    Bree Kuryk:
Like, it gives you guidance and you get to play with things and see what works for you. Um, it kind of gives you that framework. And so I was kind of doing that in my own little bubble, you know, like within my own life and wasn't really talking to a lot of people about it except maybe some online friends that, that, you know, I could, that I found. And then at the same time was kind of going through this like career trajectory, um, where I, I ended up leaving that job and then start got into online business management. So took all of those marketing and operations skills that I had gathered for a while and started doing online business consulting and online business management. And then in 2020 kind of just was like, wait, why am I doing these two things in a silo? And started actually, you know, taking the clients that I had through online business management and started talking more publicly and helping them use human design and integrate that with their business.
    Bree Kuryk:
And then things kind of went from there, um, in terms of what human design is. So human design, like I kind of alluded to it, is called the science of differentiation. It is a combination, it's a, a system of a bunch of tools that we all might be familiar with, like astrology, the Kabbalah Tree of Life, the Indian chakra system, and what's the one I'm oh, Chinese I Ching. I'm like, which one am I missing? Did I list four? Yeah, that's four. , Western Astro. Yeah. I was like, I got all four. I don't wanna miss them because I wanna also be mindful of like, these are pulling from different cultures and I wanna make sure to give credit to the, the ancestry and the lineage of those sci, the ancient sciences as well. But it also pulls in some modern sciences like neuroscience and quantum mechanics and biochemistry.
    Bree Kuryk:
So it's like just su for a science nerd like me, it just was amazing to just, there's so many layers to it, but ultimately, um, what it, it tells you, it basically when you look up this, this chart for yourself, it is a blueprint of the energy, your like energetic blueprint. It tells you things like what your strengths are, it tells you where potential shadows are, like places you can do shadow work. It tells you how your aura and your energy like can interact with other people so that you can be more aware of like how to approach conversations and relationships. And, um, and it just gives you, it kind of gives you guideposts. So one of the big things like if you're just getting started, it does tell you, like, it gives you, what do you call it, guidepost for maybe what feels like it's in alignment or how to know when you're feeling out of alignment.
    Bree Kuryk:
And then it gives you a system to kind of work through that so that you can, you know, it's like, it's like personal development, like guidelines so that you can kind of see that and make corrections and adjustments along this journey that we're all on, um, that are more unique to you. And of course,...

    Gloria Grace Rand
Namaste, I am Gloria Grace Rand and I'm delighted to be with you again for another edition of Live Love, engage, and I've got a wonderful guest with us today. We've been just having a little chat before we get started, and I am delighted to welcome Dr. Vicki Matthews to the show.
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
It's great to be here. I'm so excited.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Yeah, I am too. Cuz when I saw, um, what you are all about, I was like, Ooh, okay, this sounds good. I wanna, I wanna have her on the show to talk about what she's gonna talk about, which I'm gonna tell you about in a minute. So , so let me tell you who she is. She is a naturopathic physician and outspoken voice for alternative healing and change. And she's even appeared on Oprah show, not once, but twice. I might have to ask you about that later. Um, and is the author of book a new book called The Five Elements of Relationships, how to Get Along With Anyone, Any Time, any place. And boy is it a timely time for you to have that book out because, oh, it just seems like the last few years just, it's just gotten harder and harder for people to get along anymore. Um, so we're gonna dive into that in a minute because I really do wanna understand what those elements are and everything. But I always like to ask our guests to start off with, um, sharing a little bit about their journey and, and, you know, what led you to become a naturopathic physician for, for one thing and, and, and how you've then wound up becoming an author as well.
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
Okay. Well, I was, I, I'm a bit of a science nerd. I've always been a bit of a science nerd. And as an undergrad I was a premed major and I lived, I lived, I grew up in California, so I was doing this at ucla and, um, it became clear to me that I probably wasn't going to be popular in medicine . So, because I was kind of, I mean, I grew up in California, I had alternative views on things. So I then through family circumstances, um, my father had a stroke and my mother moved the whole family back to the Midwest, which was where both my parents were from. And I walked into this small little college like, hi, I'm from ucla, California. Cool. I'm a psychobiology major. And the guy looked at me and said, right, we have biology and psychology, you pick. So my, my undergraduate degree is psychology, which has was fascinating.
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
I loved it. And then I went on, uh, to, I decided I'd like to eat and make money. So I, when I went to graduate school, instead of going to years and years and years of med school, I could go to University of Chicago and get a degree in a master's in business in mba in marketing and consumer behavior and make money. So that was really cool. And that was where I met my husband. And so it was, it was kind of a turn right, turn left, turn right, turn left type of journey. And, um, but it all worked out. I, I, I don't begrudge any of it at all. It was a wonderful experience, all my education and, and actually then I've gone back and gotten, I did finally go back and get a naturopathic degree because I really did have a passion for medicine. And in fact, on, on surveys when it says education for me, my husband puts in too much . It's like . So I love learning. I give, that's really what it comes down to is I love learning.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Absolutely. Okay. Explain a little bit about what is the, what makes a naturopathic physician different from like a regular, you know, medical doctor,
    Dr. Vicki Matthews (03:28):
Medical doctor, other than the training, it's two totally different sets of training. Um, all the anatomy, the biology, the pH, all the basics are the same. But a naturopath will use natural ways to heal the body. It's, it's one of the biggest way to describe it is we don't violate the barrier and the boundary and the protective layer of the skin. We don't do surgery, we don't do shots. We work with the internal organs through herbs or homeopathy or water therapies or things like that. Uh, letting the body, helping and supporting the body in healing itself rather than, um, interventions that are more radical than we would be comfortable doing. That said, if I'm hit by a bus, take me to the hospital. You know, it's, it's . Um, but I will tell you I have worked with a lot of cancer patients and have a pretty high success rate with cancer patients.
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
Uh, but, but I'm coming at it from an emotional, mental, spiritual and physical perspective, like the whole person. And that's actually how I got into relationships because when I was working with my cancer patients, when you talked about emotions, almost all the upheavals were in the relationships. So I had to kind of figure out how, what can I bring to the party for them that will help with the stabilize the relationship so their emotions are stabilized so that they can heal. And, uh, that actually came from, uh, discovering the whole five element model as part of my naturopathic studies and realizing that their personalities embedded in that model. And because the model predicts interaction between each element, those interactions hold between each personality. So I had, um, practiced it on my husband quite a bit.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Nice to have a Guinea pig in the house for this. Absolutely.
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
And it was, it, it was a, the book, the, my book starts with a story of being my husband and I got married, graduated, and moved all on the same weekend. Oh. And you know, nothing like getting it all condensed. Mm-hmm. . And then we were driving to one of my, from Chicago back out to LA to my best friend's wedding. And we were driving through the Mojave Desert, and I don't know if you've ever been in the Mojave Desert, but it is nothing but sand and rocks, rocks, sand, nothing, no highway patrolman, nobody. And my husband was going the speed limit. And I'm like, you're going the speed, can we speed this up? And he looked at me like I had four heads and it's like, we're going the speed limit. So my, my little bride's heart went, oh my God, what have I done?
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
Who have I married? I mean, I love this guy, but he sounds like a colossal jerk. I would be speeding through the dust, you know? So when I discovered the five element model and the personalities in it, it's like, oh my god. Of course, that makes such sense. One of the personalities is metal and they follow the rules. They're process oriented, detail oriented. Laws are laws for a reason. I, on the other hand, am a wood, which is a cowboy. It's like, let's just do it bigger, better, more. Let's get it going here. People . So it was, it's, it's been a journey to work out the dynamics between us and make it work. But we've been married a very long time, so it's working,
    Gloria Grace Rand
I guess so. Well, so you mentioned two of the, two of the five elements already. So metal wood, what, what are the other three?
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
Okay, the five elements from, and this goes back millennia. This is a model theChinese developed as part of Chinese medicine, actually. It's a way that they move through the body, but we're just gonna talk about the personalities. So it's water, which kind of relates to winter. So inner directed, quiet, um, and we could talk about each of the personalities more in depth if you'd like. Then wood, which is spring. So we're doing a seasonal movement through a year. So wood is spring, that's buds bursting through barks, spring animals coming out from hibernation. So emerging making, you know, an appearance sort of thing. The next is fire, which is summer. So it's out there, fire people are fun, gregarious, let's outgo, let's be, you know, do fun things. And that's summer. And then we're gonna skip earth for a second and we're gonna go to metal, which is fall, autumn, beginning to close down, beginning to look inside, looking back on the cycle and saying, what did we learn?
    Dr. Vicki Matthews
What do we want to keep, what do we want to let go of letting go sits in the metal element and we can, um, we can learn a lot from metals because they have, they are the historians of the group. So they can say, this worked, this didn't, why would you do this again? And then we're coming back to earth. Earth is balance....

You're listening to the Live Love Engage Podcast. On today's show, we'll be talking about the benefits of working with a spiritual mentor. Stay tuned. I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of the Love Method, and author of the number one Amazon best seller, Live, Love, Engage. How to stop doubting yourself and start being yourself.
In this podcast, we share practical advice from a spiritual perspective on how to live fully, love deeply, and engage authentically so you can create a life and business with more impact, influence, and income. Welcome to Live Love, Engage
Namaste. I am so delighted to. Be with you again, uh, for another episode of Live Love Engage, as you heard already.
I no doubt from the intro, and I'm delighted to have a new friend. Actually. She's not only, uh, yeah, I consider her a friend. We, we've met, through Clubhouse, I guess it was, or LinkedIn or both anyway, recently. And, and, and she is a wonderful woman and I'm gonna tell you all about her in a minute. But first I wanna welcome Robynn Sheridan to live, love, engage.
Hi, Gloria. Well, let me tell you, for those of you who are listening and, and those of you who are maybe watching as well on YouTube. So Robynn Sheridan is known as the Self Love Emissary, and she's been on a Personal spiritual journey since her mid thirties. She discovered that she had gifts that could help facilitate healing of others through conversation, connecting to their body's energy, or even tapping into their spirit guides and receiving guidance for them.
And she is also. One of the things I know that she loves is mentoring, and I know that's part of what we're gonna, we're gonna dive into here a little bit today. but I think first I, as I often like to do with our guests is, is I'd love to sort of explore a little bit about what, what got you here, You know, what, what is the, you know, As I just mentioned, you've been on this personal journey, so what, maybe even what precipitated that or, or what, what's kind of, you know, Got you, got you to where you became the self love emissary. Let's, let's, let's do that.
Well, yeah. I was the queen of self-sabotage and I really didn't understand why I kept attracting the same relationships in my life, whether they be a friend, a boyfriend, a boss. I always seem to attract the same people in the same situations in my life over and over again. And it just got to the point where one day I looked in the mirror and I was 30 and I looked 50.
and I just, I was like, What is going on in your life? Why do you keep attracting all of these same scenarios in your life? What are you doing wrong? Like it was the first time I realized that I couldn't blame anybody else. It was the first time I took a responsibility and stepped out of victim mode and said, You're the common denominator.
You need to fix this, and you have to start with yourself. Mm-hmm. And that's what got me started. So what did that look like? What did you, what did you start doing? You know? Cuz I know a spiritual journey is sort of different for everybody. It all looks, looks different. Some people read, some people listen to, to books.
Some people just have spontaneous, I think, you know, awakening, So, So what did you do? I went to the library. And picked every self-help book I could find because computers were new, like there wasn't, you know, I didn't have a computer at home. I may have worked on a computer at work, but I did not have a personal computer at that time.
I went to the library and pulled out every self-help book I could find, and the moment I started asking for help, Spirit started bringing these interesting people into my life. And I would be introduced to people who were clairvoyant, and I didn't have a clue really what any of that was about. So I started being introduced into people who were really into hearing spirit, acknowledging spirit, and tapping into that energy.
So how did you start realizing that you had this gift for yourself to be able to do that? Well, I started, believe it or not, with Wicca, I started with Wiccan, started, you know, reading all the books on magic and how to connect to dragons and how to connect to fairies, and that was my beginning of understanding that I was powerful.
Like I had gifts and skills that I needed to learn how to use or tap into, and that was my first experience of trying to step out of myself and connect with something bigger. What, what value did you find out of that? What, what, what would you say would be even? Yeah, maybe either the biggest. Maybe biggest lesson and the biggest value you got out of it.
Well, the biggest value I got out of it is I don't like ritual. Oh. I am not a person who likes to have to do a full moon ceremony, a new moon ceremony. I mean, I bought all the things. I did all of the things and that went, uh, I don't like this. I don't enjoy this. There's gotta be an easier way. And then as soon as I asked for an easier way, then people showed up.
And one of the first things that showed up was essential oils and how to work with essential oils. And with that came all kinds of courses, that were similar to Reiki, but it was a whole bunch of courses where I learned to tap into my physical body, tap into the other person's physical body. That opened up all new possibilities for me.
So give an example. Well, I understood like there was a situation where my daughter was in a car accident and I went to the hospital and I was so concerned about her. I went up to her and I gave her a big hug and told her how much I loved her, and instantly I pulled everything out of her physical body.
And put it in my own, not on purpose, but I took away all of the physical pain that she would've experienced from that car accident. And then I personally went through all that physical pain for the next two to three weeks. Oh my goodness. Wow. I'm, I'm guessing, that’s may not be something you recommend people do as a general rule.
No. no. Yeah, but that made me realize that I had healing abilities, but of course I didn't have the knowledge or the wisdom and the maturity back then to understand that I was actually taking away the lesson my daughter was supposed to be learning. Oh, and just to give you a reason, example is two years later, she got into another car accident so that she could go through what she was supposed to learn the first time when I accidentally took that away from her.
Oh, wow. That's interesting. And, and I think it's something that I think that people don't necessarily understand. You know, a lot of times they, we get into this, you know, Oh, why is this happening to me? And, and focus too much on that, but not really looking at the broader picture and like, maybe is there, is there a lesson that I need to be learning from this?
So what, what do you think has been your biggest lesson that you've gotten out of, uh, you know, all of this journey that you've been on? Well, my biggest lesson was to learn that I care about people and I was always reaching out and trying to help people. And then of course, when you're always reaching out and trying to help without the person asking you, you just create more drama and then you become resentful because the people don't appreciate what you do for them.
And my biggest lesson was to learn that you can't help people unless they ask you. And then you really need to, you know, bring, like, are you really willing to do the work? Like it's okay for you to ask me and I can help you, but I can't do it for you. I can hold the sacred space. I can be there for you. I can teach you the knowledge and the skillset that I have.
I can work with you. But you have to do the work. That's a really important lesson, to learn. And, and,...

You're listening to the Live Love Engage podcast on today's show, Why chakras are the key to long term wellness. Stay tuned. I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of the Love Method, and author of the number one Amazon best seller, Live, Love, Engage. How to stop doubting Yourself and Start Being Yourself. In this podcast, we share practical advice from a spiritual perspective.
On how to live fully, love deeply, and engage authentically so you can create a life and business with more impact, influence, and income. Welcome to Live, Love, Engage.
Namaste. I am so glad to welcome you to another Fabulous addition of Live Love, Engage. Yeah, there I said it. It's gonna be fabulous. I just know because I've already been having a wonderful conversation with today's guest who is Dr. Susan Corso.
So first off, I wanna welcome you to Live Love, Engage. Thank you so very much, Gloria. I'm glad to be here. Yeah, and this is gonna be an interesting conversation. I know it's one I've been looking forward to for a while. So let me tell you all about who Dr. Susan is. She is a metaphysician. An Intuitive and an author of both fiction and nonfiction.
She has had a spiritual consulting practice for over 40 years, and her latest nonfiction are the eight energy integrity workbooks, which teach applied practical knowledge of how your chakras reflect your past. How they can be changed in the present and how to use your own human energy system to create your future.
And so right there is why I was like, Ooh, I want her on the show. Cause it's like, this is right up my alley. I'm fascinated by chakras. And so I thought we would start right off the bat with, uh, you sharing a little bit about what got you interested in exploring chakras. Knowing all about them. Well, uh, I worked in a medical center for many years as a, as the head of spiritual and energy medicine.
And that happened because I knew a doctor who, when he would get stuck with his patients, he would put me on speakerphone in his office and he would say, Can you tell me what's going on with Gloria, Right? I knew Gloria's name. Yeah. And Gloria was sitting there listening to me on the speaker, but that's all I knew.
I didn't know what he thought. I didn't know how old she was. I didn't know anything about her. And I would tune into her body and I would start to talk about energy and how it was moving and what was happening. I would say to him, “Well, you have diagnosed this, but the real problem isn't in her knees. The real problem in her knees is emotional and the emotional problem in her knees is because of this.”
And once you, once you, we clear up the abuse that's stuck in her knees, then her gut is gonna calm down. Mm-hmm. But most doctors don't think like that. Well, every single time he called and he did it for years, I was right. Not surprised. And I, and I, it was, it was a little uncanny actually, to be sitting and writing and then out of the clear blue sky, have your phone ring and say, Can you tell me what's wrong with this person?
Uh, maybe, but what the chakras actually are is this, Let's go backward. When a doctor goes to medical school, they study 11 systems. Skeletal system, circulatory system, respiratory system. Well, something makes that circulatory system circulate and yes, of course it's the pump of the heart, but it's a little more than that, and something makes that respiratory system respire.
It's a little more than that. I would call that the life force. Hm. The chakras are the life force seen through a prism and how they are distributed. The major ones in your body are on the inside of your spine, and they're not like. Most people view them as hockey pucks against your spine. No, that's not what they are.
They're three dimensional spheres and they turn and they move and they. The colors get brighter and lesser, and it just depends on what's happening in a person's life. And those chakras generate your aura. Which is the energy that surrounds your body and everybody has it, whether you can see it or you can't.
I can prove it to anyone by taking my palm and interrupting their own energy on their own hand. And everybody feels it. Even the people who don't believe in energy, they go, Huh, that was hot. Well, yes, because everybody has energy and, and I say that and we're all sensitive to it to a degree. Because every one of us has walked into a room and gone, Oh, people have been fighting here.
I gotta get outta here. Right? Yep. So chakras began to be a language for me to express. The invisible part of what was happening to a body and for my money. 11 is not a mystical number. 12 is a mystical number, and so the 12th system that's missing from the body is the human energy system. everybody has one.
What we don't know though, Gloria, which is so horrifying, is A, that we have it B, that we can manage it. C, that it's useful. Mm. Yeah, it is, it is weird that we don't really comprehend that and, and that that doctors still really aren't, I, I think, well, I would say I think some doctors are, be, are aware of it, but I think it's still not necessarily being taught in medical school.
So I think it's things that they have to pick up elsewhere. And I mean, cuz you, you think about it. Who, who is it that is talking right now? You know, where is that energy coming from? It's, it's, you know, it's not, it's not really my brain. So there is something, and, and as you said, we are all made of energy.
We are not physical beings. None of us, Nothing in this world is physical. We're all molecules or atoms that are moving so fast depending on the speed that, that's how we can see them. Before we go back into a little bit more of the chakras though, I wanna go back a little bit farther because, so how did you, what was energy like, has this always been something that you had this gift of being able to, you know, you know, be able to diagnose people over the phone?
No. I was, I was an intuitive from the time I was quite young and I spent 20 years avoiding it because as so often when you are intuitively sensitive, the things that you're sensitive to are the bad things. Right? You know when someone's gonna die, you know when there's gonna be a problem, you know?
Cause the negative energy that people experience we feed. So it's much, much larger than. Oh, you're gonna get a hug at the end of the that aisle in the grocery store. You know, So there's that and. Essentially when I was 25, a friend of mine gave me a reading with a psychic for my birthday. She knew my name and she knew my birthday, and I walked through her door and she said, Oh my God, you should be reading for me.
Wow. I said, I said, What? So one of the things she said in that reading was that I was a color healer in Egypt. Okay, so my eyeballs dinged right off the ceiling. There were holes, you know, like what? Anyway, I was meeting a friend for dinner. It was my 25th birthday, and after I was telling her about this and after dinner, she said, Well, we're right around the corner from East West Books, which is on Lower fifth Avenue in New York.
Why don't we go and look for color healing books and see if there's anything to this. Right. So off we go to the bookstore because I, I, you can't keep me from a bookstore, you know, I, books, I love books, so, Okay, I'm good with that. We walk into this bookstore, we ask where there are books on color healing and the guy points me to the back and she and I, both of us are named Susan, stand in front of this bookshelf and five books start to fall.
And, and, and one of them hits me in the forehead and I turned to Susan and I said to her, Did, Did, did you? Yeah. So we buy the books, and we get on the train to go home and I'm about halfway through the first one, maybe two hours later, and I say to her,...

  • Finding Your North Star
Today I share why it's not always easy to find your true path in life, or your own north star, but it is a worthwhile journey.
The north star, also known as Polaris, appears to be in the same position every night in our northern sky. Experts say it marks the location of the sky's north pole, which is the point around which all the stars of the northern sky rotate. That's why navigators used the star to help them know what direction is north. The north star has also gained symbolic meanings such as guidance, hope, luck, freedom, constancy, and even life's purpose.
