In this episode we're exploring the importance of seeking expertise in specialty areas like window treatments and flooring. I want you to know that asking the experts is not a sign of lacking knowledge but a commitment to delivering the best for your clients.
Here are some key takeaways:
First, it's crucial to understand your client's needs and preferences when it comes to functionality. Then, I encourage you to build relationships with local trade experts who can provide invaluable insights and recommendations.
Don't be afraid to ask questions; prepare a list of queries before meeting with a specialist. They can provide you with product-specific details that can elevate your projects, from durability to maintenance requirements.
Lastly, remember to document the knowledge you gain during these consultations, creating your own personalised design playbook.
Collaborating with experts is a smart move, enhancing your skill set and delivering exceptional value to clients while building a supportive community of knowledge-sharing designers.

I've realised that it's essential to detach my self-worth from business outcomes and embrace the adventure of experimentation. So, I if a task annoys me or I’m putting it off - I challenge myself to view tasks as an employee would—objectively. I imagine discussing strategies in a team meeting, refining decisions for success.
When I evaluate results, I'm focusing on strategy over emotion. Evidence based Intel and take it from there. Trying the "CEO perspective" is my way of embracing growth's discomfort.
I hope it helps you too.
