Sermon: Answering Racism: How will we live now?
Isaiah 1:16-18 The Voice (VOICE)
“Wash yourselves, clean up your lives; remove every speck of evil in what you do before Me. Put an end to all your evil. Learn to do good; commit yourselves to seeking justice.
Make right for the world’s most vulnerable—the oppressed, the orphaned, the widow.
Come on now, let’s walk and talk; let’s work this out.
Your wrongdoings are bloodred, But they can turn as white as snow.
Your sins are red like crimson, But they can be made clean again like new wool."
Racism is evil. It is a murder of a particular people, it is rebellious against God, it’s steals and bribes with abuse of power; it passes laws to facilitate wrongdoing.
Racism puts blood on the hands of the oppressor and blood on the hands of people who witness it and do nothing.
Still today we continue to hear about the hoarding of resources that starves blacks, torture (mental or physical) for another culture’s self-gain; the inhuman and degrading treatment to blacks who are considered enemies. Every area that draws a difference between blacks and whites has somehow become a reason to oppress blacks.
Justice is something that humans cannot create or fully achieve alone. Because injustice reigns war still exists, terror is present, militaries have increased, and peace industries are scarce. Injustice exists because we just listen, and we do not respect any differences, we think by providing justice we are open to injustice. Justice is not just sharing of resources or equal treatment. Justice is the removal of all barriers, so resources and treatment are abundant to everyone.
The full glory of God is expected very soon, we have a chance to resolve this injustice.
Blessings,
