Hello everyone and welcome back to the DYA Network..Network Nation. We bring you an extraordinary guest today who has been in the world of volleyball for over forty years. Twenty-five of these years were spent as the head women's volleyball coach at The Ohio State University. During his tenure at OSU, the Buckeyes won three Big Ten Conference Championships and participated in 15 NCAA Tournaments. In 2007 he retired from OSU but not from coaching. While leading the Buckeyes to a career record, he was also a part of the USA coaching staff. After retiring collegiate coaching, he continued to coach with USA Volleyball, more recently serving as the head coach for the U.S. Girls' Youth National Team. Under his guidance at USA Volleyball, he has taken the Men's, Women's and Girls' teams to countless international and National Championships, winning gold and silver medals at the NORCECA Championships and a Silver Medal at the FIVB Girls' U-18 World Championships in Peru. Our guest has a passion for the game and educating players and coaches. He is a contributing editor to the art of coaching volleyball where he has written and done videos on instructional tips and strategies.

I am excited about today’s show because it is an example of why I wanted to start this Podcast-to bring information not just on training but on the overall wellness of the young athlete. Our guest today has been specializing in intensive insulin therapy and advanced education for children and adults for decades. He has been a Certified Diabetes Educator for 22 years and has had Type-1 diabetes for 33years. In 2014 he was named Diabetes Educator of the Year by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. He has written six books, including the best-selling “Think Like A Pancreas-A Practical Guide to Managing Diabetes With Insulin.” He lectures nationally and internationally for people with diabetes as well as professionals in the healthcare industry. In addition to serving on the faculty of Children With Diabetes and the Board of Directors for JDRF, he volunteers for the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Sisters, and Setebaid Diabetes Camps. He has been happily married for 27 years and has four wonderful kids. A self-described fitness fanatic, he enjoys playing basketball, running, cycling and cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams.
