Psalms 58 is a look into man. It starts with their speech. Is their speech hateful and violent? The wickedness begins from birth. Men are sinners from birth. You don't teach your child to lie. God's judgement is just and the righteous will understand what an antagonist sin is to God. Every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Some willl bow and confess too late.

Psalms 57 focused on the hx of David's deliverance by God. David was not talking of corruption as in evil works, but the preservation of God's promise. The "michtam" psalms inscribed in stone placed in public settings were a visual reminder that David was only their king because of the mercy of God. God's mercy and truth allows for one way to salvation and not a different way for each person. David can rest and lie down by trusting God. David's goal of his kingship was to bring glory to God. When we have been broken on the truth and have to choose the right or the wrong way, our life's ambition should be to bring God glory.

"A Michtam" is a pilar of scripture placed in a public setting. David may have had theses psalms engraved in stones in his palace. We don't value attending church. It is so readily available to us. We choose when to go or when not to attend. We arrive late. We sleep through the sermons. What is life like when you can no longer gather for worship? They travel half the day and risk their lives to gather for church. It is that important to them. Everything will try to prevent you from doing what God calls you to do. The world, family, close friends, even "christians" groups/church will conflict. At first David had no friends and may have wondered why God anointed him with so much opposition. God provides small encouragements such has David's friend Prince Jonathan. If Bibles were rare, how precious would it become to you? Those with restricted access to Bibles, memorize pages. They become living Bibles in people who can recite it. David's life was his vow to God. You saved my life, so I owe you my life. David was a soldier trained in his armor and weapons (Bible and prayer) so that he had confidence to approach the enemy for his king (God).

Psalm 55. When we are praying, we are inviting God's attention to us. Prayer is built upon a relationship. God waits for our requestto be attentive to what is going on in our lives. Prayer is based on obedience. Just as David was betrayed by his own son/family, Jesus was betrayed by one of His twelve disciples in a personal way. When we encounter this level of wickedness and betrayal, we know it will not destroy us if we have Christ but it is still painful. It is okay to expel our pain to God loudly. We can express the pain of frustration without intending to give up since we decide to never stop serving the Lord. If we know pain is coming, we can brace ourselves to endure it. We should not abandon God to avoid pain. Christ was immovable in His pain because He trusted in the Father.

Psalm 54. The other messianic psalms point to the Messiah, but these show what Jesus went through. It's not that we should be associating with David's suffering, but rather see what Jesus endured to save us and that Jesus understands what we are going through. In David's psalms you will see many requests for God to hear his prayer, the theme for justice, and that some group of people who are undeliverable. Israel should have set God before them as Prince Jonathan did. Jonathan served his king father and even died in battle with him, but also followed God's choice for next king and said he would have served David as his right hand man. Jonathan served one king while defending the other king. Let God be the one to pour out his wrath and sort out the wrongs against you. Pull out the roots of bitterness and let God settle it. We can trust God with our past, present, and future deliverance.

Psalm 53. People will use this psalm to say men cannot do good and are always evil while others say men are good and not corrupt. Some men will make lip service to God, but how they live their life shows that God does not matter and that they think they can bypass God's wrath. The fool who says there is no God will not be moved to repentance. We spiritually rationalize our sin to make us the expection. If you convince yourself that you have no sin, you will no bend your knee in humble repentance. Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge...to seek God? If there are any who understand...who seek God? If you lack knowledge and wisdom, ask of the Lord. The salvation of Israel out of Zion is Jesus.

Psalm 52. Psalm 51 was David's response to correction of his sin with Bathsheba. If you are in sin and doing religious activities, God does not accept it. Psalm 52 is mostly negative of when David was running from Saul. King Saul did not want David to be the next king, so Saul was not really fighting David but rather was fighting God. All sin is rebellion against God. God's goodness never causes you to boast in evil. God's goodness is continual and will never bless those doing evil. Your mouth leads the direction of your life. The speech of the wicked will be boastful, untruthful, and nasty. It may seem like they have the upperhand and that their boasts will come true, but then we remember "Oh wait, God." God calls them to repentance. He gives us multiple opportunities to confess our sin. If rejected, He lets you store up your sin to destruction. Those who repent and walk in the Lord have forever in the presence of the Lord.
