Dice Punks

Nightfall continues! In this episode, our justifiably concerned Nobilis visit the city at the heart of Taraxis with the mandate to stifle its autumn festivities, but aren't clear about how or why.

• 666s rolled = 4

Nightfall continues! In this episode, our new Nobilis get a respite and some camaraderie in Fermata before receiving their next task, which looks to be more involved...

• Sorry for the mysterious clicking noise...
• Man did I use "swamped" a lot early in this episode! Here's a musical reference by way of apology: "Swamped" by Lacuna Coil!
• Vultures are pretty rad, actually!
• Pickup artist and all-around garbage person Roosh V, on the other hand, suuuuuuucks.
• Axolotls are, by contrast, awesome, and could use some human help!
• Here's that What If?, courtesy of xkcd, that Des referred to: https://what-if.xkcd.com/6/
• 666s rolled = 3
• Ortolan. It's... bracing.
• As the poet said... "Rosenrot," by Rammstein (by way of Goethe, and some folklore)

Nightfall continues! In this episode, our new Nobilis barely start to settle in before they receive their first official marching orders and head to the swamp...

Check out REIGN and Nobilis!

• Fungal "roots" are called "mycelium"
• As the poet said... "Whoever Brings the Night," by Nightwish
• Inspiration for the challenge this time came from folklore and Shadowrun!

We are very excited to bring you our very first full campaign, Nightfall! Using a combined system of REIGN and Nobilis, and set in our very own brand-new mythic fantasy setting of Mieleth, Nightfall focuses on a couple of unfortunates in the region of Taraxis who find themselves suddenly elevated to demigod status.

• Number of times 666 has been rolled: 2
• As the poet said... "Enter Sandman," by Metallica
• The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a lovely "new-time podcast in the style of old-time radio." It's been basically concluded for a while now, though, so it doesn't appear that the behind-the-scenes episode I was referring to is readily available, though. Alas!
• Kaya gives Dusa vibes (or, given her preferred address of Lyssa, these vibes, perhaps?)

Our humble playcast begins with a two-episode one-shot in Psionics, a game in the Dicepunk system (no relation) by Devon Oratz.

Their sole remaining trustworthy adult having fallen, can the troubled teens of the St. Daniel Academy make it through the worst school-day ever in one piece?

• Ness from the SNES game EarthBound (Mother 2 in Japan) uses a skill called "PK Fire" in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. (It sounds like this.)
• Avatar: The Last Airbender is fantastic, and if you haven't seen it, you should watch it, but for our purposes, one of the four types of elemental magic/martial arts in the setting is firebending.
• As the poet once said: "School's Out" by Alice Cooper

At a small, unusual school in rural America, several students have recently become aware that they have... unusual abilities -- and they're about to have a pretty terrible day.

• "War Eagle!" is a greeting-slash-cheer used by Auburn University in Alabama, despite the fact that their mascot is officially the Tigers.
• Hüsker Dü is the name of both a board game and a hardcore punk band.
• The Mediterranean civilizations of the late Bronze Age experienced a collective, catastrophic collapse, seemingly due to a variety of factors.
• The idea of an OODA Loop was military in origin, but is applied in response strategies that many teachers in United States schools are trained in, in the event of an active shooter on campus. (In the session, Robin has Nic refer to the student handbook for response strategies that are, in the GM's experience, more rational and effective than much of what teachers in the real world are trained in.)
