My guest on the podcast this week is a partner at accountancy firm Carpenter Box, Sam Uwins, but he is not just your average accountant.

He become the youngest partner in the firm aged just 27, during that time set up Star Box, a side arm of Carpenter Box that looks after the financial affairs of some of the biggest influencers, vloggers, gamers and YouTube sensations in the UK, representing over 400 clients, including KSI, The Sidemen, FR Freestylers, Patricia Bright and many more. He also in 2021 founded Arcade Media, a Management and ventures company for elite creators.

In this fascinating episode, Sam talks about his passion for business at a young age and how finding his niche and spotting an opportunity has helped shape his career. He talks about some of the challenges he has faced over the past 10 years, after losing one of his biggest clients, as well as some of his career highlights. Sam imparts some great advice for any listeners looking to break into the fast passed world of being a social media influencer, some of the pitfalls, the importance of consistency and not focusing too much on the amount of views, likes and followers. What I loved about this interview from someone I have known on and off the football pitch for the last decade, was despite his fantastic journey and success, at 30 years of age he is extremely humble and shows amazing self awareness, after recently becoming a father we discuss how important it is for him to create a healthy work life balance and what future success looks like.

I am delighted to welcome for the first time, Two guests to the podcast this week. The inspirational Alice Reeves and Sophie Turton.

In 2017 My guests co-founded The Joyful – a brand development and digital marketing agency for businesses that want to make an impact, challenge the status quo, launch positive and purposeful marketing campaigns, and build communities for their customers.

They are passionate about helping purpose-driven brands grow, and supporting impact-driven entrepreneurs, as well as promoting a culture of flexibility, well-being and conscious working in the digital sector.

I met them both at a business expo last year and we discussed their business journey and some of the tough times they faced, like many especially through the pandemic. My guest on the podcast this week is Jeremy Jacobs. A shining example of someone who has built successful businesses from nothing.

He started a bakery in his parents' kitchen, ran it for 13 years, and scaled it to a nationally recognised food manufacturing operation with clients such as Virgin Atlantic. Before the global pandemic the business was moving in the right direction with continuous growth, then March 2022 the rug was pulled from underneath and took the tough decision 18 months later to close the business.

I have followed his journey for some time and have been completely blown away by his openness and honesty, to share his story, which over the last couple of years has clearly been a tough time. He is completely transparent about the pain points and difficulties of running a business and this episode is everything I had hoped it would be.. Raw, emotional and a truly honest account of his journey of discovery, failure, success and everything in between.

My guest on the podcast this week Jon Trigg, a digital professional with a track record in starting up and growing businesses. Over the past 20 years he has helped companies grow in turnover from £400k to £3m per year.

In 2002 he Founded and grew his business Silent Manager, that he started in the back of his bedroom and he ran for over 12 years to become a global provider with 2 offices in Brighton (UK) and one in Sydney (Australia), before in May 2016, after recognising the growing need outside the major cities for decent, innovative and creative workspaces, he founded Freedom Works, a collaborative, flexible co-working space. Within less than 6 years they have grown to 9 sites now across the South East with plans to continue growth this year and he and the team are on a mission to become the 1st Co-working space on the moon..

In this episode Jon discusses with true openness and honesty how he lost his family, his house and his business in the same year, but with his sheer determination and an attitude to never give up, he shows how he went on to start Freedom works and create a winning culture by building a collaborative community. How he changed his leadership style from being a 'Boss' to being a true leader.. How him and his team are all on the Freedom Works bus and he wants it to take it as far as he can, with as many people on board as possible.

With many challenges, up and downs along the way, both in business and his personal life, this is a story of an incredible business journey, from a truly inspirational, brilliant businessmen and one that actually maybe just getting ready for lift off.

My guest on the Podcast this week is Paige Collins, founder of Warren House Accountants. Many people, myself included have described her as extremely brave and inspirational for many reasons and when listening to this powerful episode you will know why.

She has worked in the accountancy industry for over 30 years, working with a diverse mix of clients both corporate and individuals.

She started at Hartley Fowler as a trainee accountant in 1982 working her way up through the ranks to Managing Partner in June 2005-Dec 2020.

In January 2021 embracing changes in both her personal life and work life she started her own firm Warren House Accountants, a practise based in Mid Sussex, trying to do things differently.

Paige talks openly throughout the episode about her transition and how being kind, being brave and being bold has helped her to change her life. We discuss in detail the culture she is creating at Warren House Accountants and her thoughts and views around how we measure a companies success based on 'emotional profit', as well as encouraging her team of financial engineers to be business and people curious.
