Everyone has some good in them, right? Today we process some scenes from the show Barry, where they act out his original story as a killer in the military and are celebrated for his marksmanship. Then we look at a clip when he is dying and feels like he is waiting to die and go Up or Down for his afterlife. We talk about how some of us will do things to fit in and enjoy finally being accepted, even if it's for a bad thing. However, it led to his terrible life moving forward as a killer. We discuss him being taking advantage of his whole life and how it's common for folks on the spectrum too. He wants connection and struggles to do it. Thus, he accepts whoever gives him a little bit of love. I wonder what that's all about? Enjoy today's show!!

Today we process some scenes from the show Kim's Convenience, where we look at Appa's relationships with his children and then a scene about group therapy. How do we show love for our children, and can it sometimes come out badly. Diving into the depth of his charter, we look at what makes him tic and why he finds it so hard to be more compassionate, always getting his own with his son. " You are my only friend, Gohan" Today, we process a scene from the animated series Dragon Ball Z, where Piccolo sacrifices himself to protect Gohan. During this time, they have a montage of their relationship and how it's grown as a teacher and student over time. Now Piccolo loves the kiddo, and the same goes for him. We talk about learning from others; maybe they are our teachers, professors, parents, and so on. But we can also learn to live and grow from our students, kids, and younger folks. How do I work as a therapist? Well, sometimes it's not all friendly, and I can be like Piccolo, mean or teasing, but it comes from love and protection. We talk about these concepts and more on today's podcast!

Can you help me read this menu? Today we discuss a scene from the movie 50 first dates, where he keeps trying to ask her out on a date and fails repeatedly. We chat about how funny this is but how real it is to fail when trying to meet new people, let alone ask people out. Sharing some funny stories and our dating failure, today is all just about fun and laughs. Sorry if this pod isn't the most therapeutic. Please teach us, Kung Fu! Today we process a few scenes from the movie Minions, the rise of Gru. We see clips where they learn the art of Kung Fu to help free Gru and save his life. We thought this would be a funny scene for people to relate to when trying to learn a new skill or teaching people new things. Being on both sides of this story, I can relate a ton. We talk about frustration and self-doubt, getting tired of teaching the same thing, and people not getting better or listening to your advice. Lastly, we talk about how a few of them might have ADHD or other things haha.

Therapy dog to the rescue! Today we process a scene from Puss in Boots, The Last Wish. We talk about Puss having a panic attack and how real it was, and how or why it happened. Puss has issues with death and his prior mistakes in life. Many of us can relate. We use this scene to process people's triggers and help identify thoughts, feelings, emotions, and more. We then discussed how to work on these things and back down from generalized anxiety and panic attacks!

The music in the scene!! Today we process a clip from Bad Batch season 2, where Crosshair is helping a fellow clone in the snow, which has been hurt and could be seen as dead weight. Crosshair seems to feel some connection or respect for this man and takes him back to the main camp, where they both are clinging to life. We used this scene to talk about bosses, medical doctors, anger, resentment, and feeling like people are talking down to you. Please join us as we look at people being hurtful and how to work with it in your career.

Let's talk about sensory differences and Synesthesia. Today we process a scene from the movie Ratatouille, where they show us how eating food can be an explosion of stimuli. Some people feel, see, and hear different things than others do. It cannot be cured and is highly correlated with autism. Some folks see things in colors, letters, and visuals. They may have smells that get paired with things, etc. We talk about this and the other common sensory things folks on the spectrum deal with or experience. We look at the childhoods of both Billy and Thad and how they had it very hard. We talk about living with low self-worth, being stuck with bad thoughts, having poor mental health, and constantly questioning your place in the world. These two show how bad it can get with a bad childhood or lack of love within the family. Joins us as we talk more and bring up other examples.   Therapy is a process; Healing is a process!
