English Makes No Sense

Different Ways to Say Thank You

Listen Later

In this episode you will learn different ways to say thank you with out saying the words, "Thank you".  This will increase your fluency and make you feel more confident and comfortable.  Also, I would like to express my thanks to each and every one of you for listening and being here!  Below is a transcript of this episode.

Welcome to another edition of English Makes No Sense, the podcast where we have fun with the English language, one lesson at a time.  My name is SL ROckfish and today we are going to talk about being thankful.

Why are we going to talk about being thankful?  Because it is Thanksgiving Day today, here in the United States!

Yes, Thanksgiving Day, the one day a year that we set aside time to think about all we are thankful for and to take a moment to count are blessings.  There are no presents to buy, no decorations that you have to put up, it is just a day to be grateful for what you have.

We all have something to be grateful for, don’t we?  The fact that we are alive, right there, that is something to be grateful for.

The other thing we do here in the U.S. is eat a lot on Thanksgiving!  I mean A LOT!  It is said that the average American will eat 4,500 calories today.  4,500!  I believe it too!

The traditional meal of turkey is not the culprit.  Culprit, what’s a culprit Sarah.  Great question.  A culprit is a person or thing that is responsible for a crime or misdeed.  Yep, a culprit.  But turkey is not to blame, it is not the culprit.  It is the side dishes that get us.  We eat mashed potatoes, buttered rolls, macaroni and cheese, green bean casserole, candied yams, pumpkin pies, pecan pies and apple pies.  Oh and don’t forget we usually consume a lot of beverages like beer and wine,  Some people even have appetizers before the big dinner!  So, maybe 4,500 calories is a bit low.  Hmm.

Anyway, seeing as how today is Thanksgiving Day, I thought we could learn a few different ways to say, Thank You, without using the words Thank you>

Are you ready, if you need a piece of paper and a pen, just hit pause and come back.  Or wait until this is over and listen again.

Here we go: let’s start with:

You’re the best!

Or

You made my day!

You’re the bomb!  The bomb?  How is that good?  Idon’t know but You’re the bomb means you are wonderful, and thanks all rolled up into one.

How about, “I owe you one”  I owe you one means thanks for what you have done and I will return the favor, at a later date, just let me know.

But it is easier to say, I owe you one.

Much obliged and much appreciated work too, for a quick different way to say thanks.  You just need to use one, not both.

Much obliged or Much appreciated.

Another way is to say, “I can’t thank you enough.”

That saying right there means, words alone cannot express my gratitude.

And finally Cheers!  I like the word Cheers!  It is simple and conveys a lot.

So CHEERS!

There you have it, multiple ways to say thanks.  And that is what I want to say to each and every one of you>

Thank you for being here, You’re the best.  You make my day, you are the bomb!

Much obliged and I can’t thank you enough for listening, liking following me on IG or TT, even if you don’t follow me there, thanks for being here.

Today there will be no verse, just a feeling of gratitude!

You all make my day!

Cheers!  Have a great day friends!  Peace!
