we had to put a lot of our dreams on pause because we had to responsibilities and expectations at home. we couldn't just leave because of money burdens, taking care of our parents, or maybe even because in south asian culture, the girl is expected to just stay at home. it's hard to be patient when you see your friends or family members moving forward and doing things that you've always wanted to do. in this episode, we discuss some of the dreams that we had to wait on due to the restrictions we had at home.

in south asian culture, it is really hard to express yourself through fashion because you're subject to negative comments from your parents or the community, your body becomes extremely sexualized, or you feel like you can't comfortably wear something because of your gender. one of us dealt with comments of being less masculine because of their experimentation with fashion while the other constantly heard comments about covering up when in the presence of male family members or visitors. in this episode, we talk about our different male/ female perspectives with fashion and all of the difficult times we had it with it growing up.

since elementary school, we've gotten our names pronounced because it's too "difficult" for people to pronounce. but the question is, why are people so willing to pronounce long european names while ethnic ones are mentioned as broken syllables?

we heard a quote recently by the late nipsey hussle (rip) that goes, "the reasonable man adapts himself to the world. the unreasonable ones persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. therefore, all progress in the world depends on the unreasonable man." in the south asian community, any individual that's en route to pursuing a career outside of the traditional ones, the ones we're all aware of, they're pretty much given the side eye. the two of us are currently following a path into the arts, but the journey definitely hasn't been just a walk in the park. in this episode, we dive deeper into the reasoning behind why we're so persistent in pursuing our odd paths, the different struggles and roadblocks we've faced along the way, and share some of our listener's responses to what obstacles they're actively working through in their lives. listen to us in explaining why we chose to go against the grain in our community and become the unreasonable ones.

both of us have grown up working different fields, one working in coffee shops and clothing stores while the other working in a dentist office, a pharmacy, and schools. as adults now, we realize that these jobs determined our status, reputations, and our overall outlook on society. in this episode, we talk about why we felt like we had to get these jobs, the negative stereotypes that are associated with certain professions, and what we did to unlearn them.

the both of us just came back from vacation, but the guilt we felt prevented us from completely enjoying ourselves. since it has always been our moms' dreams to come on luxurious vacations like ours, it felt wrong that we were there without them. it felt wrong that we were relaxing and reaping these benefits when they deserve it so much more. in this episode, we talk about the guilt that south asian children feel when they go on vacations, especially if their family wasn't able to afford many growing up. do we deserve this vacation?
