HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Healthcare Leaders Share the Keys to Empowering Patients for a Better Patient Experience, Outcomes, and Improved Communication
Original Publishing Date: Nov 15, 2021
YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/nS8hoiU6RTA
Entering the healthcare system isn’t like getting on a ride at Disney World, where you can get on, expect your experience to be managed, then get off and be done. It’s more like a trip to a foreign country. There will be a missed reservation, a museum might be closed when you get there, and you might have some good and some bad experiences. It can be overwhelming! You don’t understand the language, but you can be more empowered to ask for what you need, see maps or guides based on other travelers' experiences and take the advice of the locals. Cris Ross, Pamela Arora, and Ed Marx, three industry-renowned healthcare executives, share insights from their recent unexpected experiences as patients. Their strategic decisions on how to deploy technology at their health systems have affected millions of lives. Despite their long experience in healthcare, their recent patient journeys revealed friction points in data sharing that urgently need to be addressed and game-changing insights on how to sync information sharing with patients during their patient journeys. Join us as we discuss concrete steps to empowering patients to engage in their care, and how health systems should adapt to more empowered, communicative patients. HealthIT tools including patient portals, chatbots, CRMs, and precision analytics can be incredibly vital tools on patients’ healthcare journeys but only if patients are empowered and engaged in using them.

HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Protect Your Providers from Critical Burnout and Information Overload
Original Publishing Date: Nov 15, 2021
YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/LQ8cICoEk9Y
Exhausted and overwhelmed clinicians are reaching a breaking point as the COVID-19 pandemic enters another phase. Technology developed to improve treatments and clinical data collection has become an additional burden to bear. Technology must align with clinical workflow – not the other way around. Information overload is contributing to the burnout of exhausted clinicians already overtaxed by the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.
Finally, automation, voice recognition, and smart processes are cutting down on the demands of physicians so that we can finally experience the full benefit of new technologies. Natural language APIs are extracting pertinent information from EMRs to save on scrolling while speech recognition software is taking on the laborious task of updating medical records.

HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Streamlining Emergency Department Operations with Rush University for Increased Efficiency, Staff Engagement, and Better Patient Experience
Original Publishing Date: Nov 15, 2021
Youtube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=All4Vo9KvmQ
The average emergency department (ED) stay is over two hours for discharged patients and four hours for admitted patients. While patients often endure these wait times, the delays result in reduced patient satisfaction, increased provider burnout, and increased costs. Rush University Medical Center knew its ED needed to change. It reorganized its operations around Lean principles and implemented shared accountability and decision-making. However, the team quickly recognized that the current toolsets in their EMR couldn't provide the information needed to manage those improvements effectively. Rush utilized an engineering team with experience developing complex command and control systems for the U.S. Military, to co-develop a set of tools to enable their ED workflows. These tools provide real-time information in simplified views, allowing the care team to identify delays and respond quickly to changes.

HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Leveraging AI to Fix Broken Math and Optimize Use of Costly Healthcare Assets
YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyi44HtNaTo
Originally Published: Nov 15, 2021
VID-19 has brought to the forefront the fact that capacity management is key to providing high-quality access to care for all. Having enough ICU capacity and floor beds available, being able to continue to do elective surgery, adjusting the staff and nursing roster dynamically to avoid burnout are issues that have never been more important than now. Why do health systems find it so hard to address these issues even during "peacetime" and especially during "wartime"? Because the underlying math to match supply with demand is broken.
Existing tools and processes need to be fundamentally revamped for health systems to overcome waves of COVID-19 and similar shocks in the future in order to maximize the use of their assets to create value for patients and themselves. The key is to create a culture of innovation in the organization and deploy proven and scalable AI-driven, intelligent systems. Dig into the how and why of this digital transformation of patient experience and capacity management.

HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Personalizing Digital Health Through Adaptive Patient-Focused Digital Front Doors
Original Published Date: November 11, 2021
YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZfTgzobYHM
As the pandemic shifted the focus from in-person care to telehealth and virtual medicine, more patients have relied on virtual technologies to access both healthcare and their health data. Health systems and their providers are continuing to find ways to connect with patients to create digital front doors, through telehealth platforms and otherwise, and innovative companies are leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to assist providers with scaling the clinical workflow, from inferring patient needs to rationalizing a plan of care. Health systems are using robotics and AI/ML technologies to assist in patient care, including the utilization of conversational AI to interview the patient as wells as recommending a care plan to the physician. Regulators are focused on patient-directed data sharing and the interoperability of electronic medical systems to promote care coordination, and health systems are partnering with digital health companies to transform the delivery of care.
