HealthIMPACT Live Spring Forum May 19th - 21st, 2021 by Purpose Events
COVID-19 has forced us to question what’s possible in healthcare delivery and to challenge our thinking. Our expectations of what we want and expect from contact with the health system, what a “safe” distance, procedure, or interaction looks like, and how satisfied each participant is with an increasingly digital experience of healthcare are wildly different than they were a few months ago. True transformation is always a result not just of the availability of new technologies, but also of the willingness of patients, providers, and health systems to adopt it, and insurers to pay for it. This sea change of expectations has the potential to be the most transformative aspect of our new world. However, both traditional and virtual healthcare come with a bunch of, for lack of better words, stupid stuff that slows down providers, costs money, and hampers the patient experience. Forward-thinking health systems have the opportunity to create and implement a new, hybrid strategy, keeping and strengthening the best parts of telehealth expansion, a virtual workforce, and increased remote care while bringing back the most valuable and effective elements from traditional, in-person care. This will require a critical look at new and existing technologies, an honest evaluation of the merits of new and legacy processes, and a willingness to think outside the box and if needed, build a new one. This discussion will focus on building an effective digital care strategy to meet the new challenges of 2021.
• Viewpoints on the changing Business model
• Shift to virtual care, what to expect
• Impact on organizational strategy
• Proactive measures to thrive in the post-COVID business environment
• How are technology budgets allocated, and is the way things have always been the way they should be going forward?

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the utilization of telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and virtual hospitals and smart home solutions has skyrocketed. While increased utilization has been rightly celebrated, many groups have fallen through the cracks. Elderly patients, rural patients, those with disabilities, language barriers, or lack of access to technology or sufficient internet connectivity have been left behind. !n this session, we will dive into where groundbreaking technologies and programs are making a demonstrable difference in outcomes and experiences for patients previously underserved by virtual health solutions and what health systems can do to better reach these sections of their patient populations,

Provider Priorities in Post Pandemic World - Steps We Can Take to Address the Systemic Problems Exposed and Amplified by COVID-19
HealthIMPACT Live Winter Forum March 10th - 11th, 2021 by Purpose Events

The year 2021 presents a unique challenge- healthcare leaders find themselves with more technical tools with which to reach, treat, and analyze patients at the same time as providers and patients are exhausted, demoralized, and facing unprecedented adversity. A year into the COVID-19 pandemic, over 500,000 Americans have died from the virus and we face amplified disparities in severity, deaths, and vaccine rollout. Many healthcare leaders fear that the response to the pandemic has led to a widening gap in preventive and primary care for other conditions and that soon, we will see the consequences of this gap in higher morbidity and mortality due to preventable conditions. Further, they worry that an overstressed and exhausted workforce will not be prepared to handle it. It is clear that in the face of many challenges, leadership intention is not necessarily matching actionable steps to reduce burnout and overwork. The same is true for disparities exposed and exacerbated by the pandemic. Looking ahead, we’ll talk “No BS” answers to what steps leaders can and should take to better care for their communities and employees.

How Has the Healthcare System We Want Changed?

HealthIMPACT Live Winter Forum March 10th - 11th, 2021 by Purpose Events
COVID-19 has forced us to question what’s possible in healthcare delivery and to challenge our thinking. Patients and providers have offered overwhelmingly positive responses to these innovations, and we will take the best of what we learned during a hard time to continue to offer the best care possible at all times.
There’s no question that we’re facing a paradigm shift in healthcare, only where changes will stick and how we will shape the future of healthcare. How patients, providers, and healthcare leaders approach healthcare as a whole has changed. Our expectations of what we want and expect from contact with the health system, what a “safe” distance, procedure, or interaction looks like, and how satisfied each participant is with an increasingly digital experience of healthcare are wildly different than they were a year ago. True transformation is always a result not just of the availability of new technologies, but also of the willingness of patients, providers, and health systems to adopt it, and insurers to pay for it. This sea change of expectations has the potential to be the most transformative aspect of our new world. However, both traditional and virtual healthcare come with a bunch of, for lack of better words, stupid stuff that slows down providers, costs money and hampers the patient experience. In this session hear leaders share their plans for what to keep and what to forget in the new healthcare:
• Create hybrid healthcare that’s truly best in class
• Shift to virtual care, what to expect - viewpoints on the changing Business model
• Proactive measures to thrive in the post-COVID business environment
• Continuous safe care throughout the pandemic versus interruption of non-emergent care

As healthcare leaders, we often talk about healthcare delivery in terms of our collective responsibility to patients; ensuring fair and comprehensive treatment, discretion with their data, and providing key services in times of need. In the months ahead, a new focus is needed, and your responsibility to providers will need to be equal to that of patients. Attentiveness to the mental health needs of providers who are at risk for post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, and major depression must shape the culture and future of your organization. Clinician burnout, already a looming crisis before this pandemic, will be at a critical juncture. Here are the tools you need to give providers the support they deserve.
- Coping with trauma and preventing physicians PTSD - from hero to human
- Understanding the Whole-of-Medicine approach that puts the patient-clinician encounter as the central priority
- Creating a healthcare culture that facilitates, supports, and optimizes a Whole-of-Medicine approach
- Digital Tools to support health provider mental health

View From the Top- What Does Sustainable Innovation look like in a Post Pandemic World

Over the past months, the world has shuffled staff members, supplies, and budgets to prepare for the urgent task of combatting COVID-19. Questions of balancing budgets have been shifted to the back burner, and all of our innovative energies have focused on the task at hand. Now, we’re looking at a long road ahead of us, with no quick cure in sight, where belts will be significantly tightened. So where does innovation fit in?
Healthcare systems must re-evaluate all aspects of how they deliver care and make sustainable plans to put cost improvement programs into place throughout all clinical and non-clinical areas. Healthcare systems should plan to reduce back-office costs, including IT, human resources, and revenue cycle. Make no mistake, there IS room for innovation in this new world, but it must be agile, cost-effective, and focus on the impact on patient AND provider experience. Strategic collaboration forms the backbone for post-pandemic innovation.
